Armistice till after the playoffs are done.

This will be last post till cats playoffs are done.
I am calling for an Armistice till after the playoffs are done.
I made my point and maybe pushed a touch too much.
I've been angry about the lack of winning during the playoffs and season play over past 10 seasons.
as a season ticket hold I expected more.
The Team won a playoff Game. it's a start.

I am going to watch them Fight for East title without posting Anti-Ticat Items.
If they win a grey cup I will post an Letter to Football Ops on this Forum.
My Appolgy to football ops if they win.

Sometime I take this game way to serious
My Passion for the game overrides my good Judgement at times
Time for me to step back and shut up till their this season is Over..

Onknight..

You take yourself too serious, not football.

Pat Lynch ( the old guy who still remembers the Tom Dempsey fieldgoal against the Lions for the Saints' win)
Wasn't that a 60+ yd field goal or something?

Not a bad kick for a guy with half a kicking foot. 63 yards if I recall correctly( which is often not the case).

Pat Lynch (the old guy)

Join the club. It is rather a large club. It includes every Ticat fan every year the Ticats do not hoist the Cup.

But as others have pointed out, the trick to sanity in these forums is to -not- take ourselves or anything we have to say too seriously. These forums are for entertainment purposes only.

Make your point and move on. Remember - most of humanity will not agree with you most of the time on most any topic. Trying to get the world to agree with you is a leading cause of insanity. No matter how wrong the world is.

Onknight is a fan of delusion more than football. A role model for fair weather fans everywhere.

I don't think we should be too hard on Tom, even if we disagree with him. Like bob said these forums are for entertainment only. I know I have made my share of mistakes in posting - sometimes facts related and sometimes opinion related. Someone once said something like: "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone".

My two cents. (Personally some of what Tom writes grates on me, but he certainly has the right, within forum rules of course, to write it.)

:cowboy:

If I had a dollar for everytime I swore I would never watch this team again, never go to a game, never spend a nickel on them, called them all kinds of names, demanded the entire organization be fired, complain about the refs, the stadium, the weather, the play calling etc.etc. etc. I would be a millionaire....but I keep on watching :cowboy:

I would hope that any of the fair weather fan types are not parents. If you can't cheer for a team in the bad times then what would you do with a misbehaving child? Disown them?

If you ever expect to be considered a legitimate fan then you need to be willing to be there in the bad times as much as the good. Your team needs you even more in the bad times and thats when you choose to give up on them? Thats the part I don't get and it seems so petty, delusional and generally senseless.

This is not about any one single person and Onknight constantly makes it about himself. This is about all the Ticat players, football ops and fans coming together as one for the common goal of success and without conditional love/support. If you don't want to be part of the team effort then just go away please. He needs some proper perspective but I fear that will never happen. Anything that even resembles a logical thought escapes him. No amount of sense has ever sunk into him since I joined this board in 2006.

I am certainly far from the best forum member myself but my support for this team has never wavered once since I became a fan at age 6 (now 43) and it never will.

Now that is seriously the best news I’ve heard this week.

My blood pressure might just stay in the normal range for a while.

I believe in peoples’ right to express their opinion (if it they are wrong lol) but this has gotten to the ridiculous point with some people. It is stressing me out and it shouldn’t be. I am not a positive person by nature (anyone who knows me will tell you that I’m a glass completely empty kind of person), but you have to give credit where credit is due and Tom hasn’t been able to do that this year. There are others who haven’t also. I haven’t been thrilled with the level of consisency, but that is not relevant now. We are in the EDF and that is all that matter to me right now.

As I said in another thread, there is a huge difference between predicting a loss by the team, and hoping for a loss and then revelling in it when it happens. A fan can predict a loss, but will still cheer his team on, hoping for a victory, and will be disappointed when the team loses. I know I predicted quite a few losses by the team in our 1-17 season, but I still cheered for the team, vainly hoping for them to eke out a win. I was disappointed a lot that year, but (silly me) I was ecstatic when they won that one game.

I know you are frustrated in the lack of progress in the team the past few years, and want to see changes that you feel will improve the team. Who isn't? I can think of a few changes I'd like to see as well. So, please, continue to post your opinions on the team and on what changes you think the team should make. That's what this forum is for, the sharing of opinions...and the occasional fact. But as this is the Ticats forum, I for one would appreciate it if you could maybe avoid cheering for the other teams to beat us. Please?

You should get someone to proofread it for you first.

I’ll start by saying Onknight has the right to do or say whatever he wants. It’s his choice to not go to games or whatever he decides to do.

What I don’t understand, and why I quoted your post, Zen, is that these are far from bad times. He was a season-seat holder from 2001 to 2011. That means he sat through 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008; all playoff-less years. The Cats may not be the best team in the league right now, but they have been in the playoffs the last three seasons. They are now in the East Final. I don’t get why now is when anyone would jump ship. It doesn’t make any sense to me. He was willing to pay for that, but is no longer willing to sit through a couple of heartbreaking playoff losses? I’ll take 9-9 or 8-10 every year if it means I don’t have to see 3-15 or gulp 1-17 ever again.

Anyway, Zen, you’re also right, and this is one person making it about themselves. Sort of like a child looking for attention. I, for one, will not comment again. This is about this team that is one win away from a Grey Cup birth. That is an exciting time, and I won’t let my enjoyment be sullied by one malcontent.

Just to clarify.. by "bad times" I meant that he seemed to finally snap during the late losing streak this season.

As long as the team is competetive the true fans will be content, It takes years to develope a winning program and assemble the players to make it work! True fans understand this.

If the Ticats don,t win next week or the G.C, then by by Onite :stuck_out_tongue: (maybe not winning can be a positive!!!

Onknight:

It takes a lot of courage to admit what you wrote on this thread.... but keep on posting whatever you feel like saying Tom! That's what this forum is for.
Pay no attention to those who have been very critical of you and your thoughts. So what if others think you are wrong...they should not be getting upset about someone else's views. It's all opinion anyway.
I don't always agree with you either but there are many times when I think you have been right.
There's nothing wrong with being passionate about what interests you.We have all been wrong or steamed on this forum at one time or another...and you can bet we will all be wrong and steamed again at some point.
I'd say Koobladee and the Caretaker have things in the best perspective.
So hang in on the forum Tom....this team could very well be Grey Cup-bound! Who would have thought it a month ago.
Not me.
