Argos want to host Labour Day !!

How about how Hamilton views (or treats ) the vast majority of anywhere other than Hamilton … the 2 seem to go hand in hand

but i don’t see the problem with sharing the game …go on a rotation if it helps the Argos then it’s a bonus …it would help the game grow as it sits now its only a big deal for cats fans

No matter what people on this site or in Hamilton say the fact is Hamilton needs Toronto for its sports teams the only time the numbers increase is when Hamilton is playing against a team from Toronto from the Cats to the bulldogs …

boost it up make it something big make up a LDC Cup or whatever make it a big deal for both cities a good healthy CFL is good for the Ti-Cats too

Curious… with that kind of rationalization, one wonders why the league hasn’t adopted the same approach to the western Labour Day classic. Commonwealth would certainly house more fans and generate more revenue than McMahon, but that has not come to pass… and Commonwealth is a stadium that has accommodated over 50 000 fans with more frequency and consistency than Rogers. If alternating stadia is a change worth implementing, why should this be limited to Hamilton/Toronto, especially considering your last point?

Doesn't Braley live around these parts, yet he's making this ridiculous request. Some people just never get a clue. I'd rather we play some other team than give up our Labour Day game.

He wants to have his own special little tradition, pick another date and make it between his own two teams and call it the Bay Street bowl. That way he will win no matter the score.

here's more on Braley from the Globe and Mail...

Even some of the blue boys (those just down the road) would rather be playing in Hamilton on Monday....than having a day off???

Better speak to your employees, Braley!!!????

The way the Argos look and the way they draw fans, not sure they are going to be around much longer

Pinball and Nicholson have been strangely silent during all of this. They need to step up and clean things up. Why is the OC still around while this offence is looking this bad? The quarterbacks don't know how to even throw a football and when they do get lucky and get it there, the receivers are dropping the passes.

Garber lost his job, and now Steinhauer is in charge and this unit still doesn't look any better.

The team looks lost and illprepared. This one is on the head coach. He has no one else to scream at this time but himself.

Barker should be gone, but then who will be the star of the reality show?

Too much time giving interviews that they wished they were in Hamilton for Labour Day… not enough time prepping for this game.

LOL that's what I said.

David Braley’s suggestion they alternate this game between Hamilton and Toronto is simply ludicrous; the Rogers Centre is not a place made for blood feuds
Bruce Arthur: "Labour Day not the same without Argos" (yeah, no kidding) http://sports.nationalpost.com/2011/09/ ... out-argos/

"We want to host labour day" (as long as the Jays aren't in town)

So…in other words…we want to host Labour Day and make some revenue in our terrible venue and be embarrassed when there is more black and gold then double blue on TV? Braley though really needs to get out of the Rogers Center. Unless Rogers starts promoting the Argos and sponsoring the CFL instead of chasing the NFL pipedream (which is unlikely given that Bell owns TSN) and giving tie-ins with the Jays and Argos to rival MLSE.

Anyways, it’s probably going to happen in 2013 with the Ivor Wynne being rebuilt, so that’s fine. Tiger-town will show the Argos how to fill the dome. Braley has done a lot of good for Hamilton, but he should work more towards solidifying getting the return game after Labour Day.

The only way that Toronto could get 40,000 to 50,000 fans in the Rogers Centre at Labour Day is to host an NFL pre-season game.

Loved this line:

Indeed, from a football perspective it was hard to say you really missed the ol’ Argos. Sure, there were a few more empty seats, and fewer public displays of hatred — how many beers went undumped on visitors in double blue? — and nobody chanted “Argos Suck.? Which, since it’s so self-evident this season, would have just been piling on anyway.

There were definetely Argos suck chants in our section.

I know I am going to take heat on this one, but it is fair to switch the money maker game between the teams (not just Ham-Tor, but also Win-Sask and Cal-Edm). This is a gate driven league and each team should be able to profit from the big games, I am sure Edm and Win would love to get some Labour day attendance too.

I would also say, drop the back-to-back games and use Thanksgiven as the 'grudge' game between the Labour day teams. This way the league can build-up the return game for the next long-weekend.

I really think Braley has much more important matters to worry with his eastern franchise then whether or not they host a Labour Day game.

Perhaps, he needs to be concerned about a lack of a quarterback, an almost non-existent offence, and a coach and general manager, who neither can't properly evaluate talent (see receiving corp) or draw up an adequate game plan, or be able to hire people who can.

With these already existing issues, how does Braley propose to draw any fans to watch his Labour day game at Skydome.

Hey David, take care of this and build a competitive, entertaining football team, THEN get back to us about wanting to host a Labour day game.

Clearly you’ve never gone to any of the Bills preseason games at the Dome. I went to the game against Indy last year (got free tickets), and there was nowhere near 40,000 people there, let alone 50,000. It was empty. And the atmosphere sucked too.

Still a heck of a lot more people than an Argo pre-season game and they are paying big bucks for a ticket!
