Argos Ticket Sale at 15,000

Hope you’re right but most Red Patch Boys want the Argos to fold so…

Well Kevin, maybe it's a bit more like the 5 stages of grief for the Red Patchers  :

I expect more venom from the Red Patch Girls if the Argos come out and confirm the numbers.

3 financially stable Ontario based CFL teams at the same time, all with new Stadiums.
Who would have thunk it!
Bodes very well for the future of the League.

To me it's not about the number this year it about keeping them into 2017 and beyond. This year was bound to be a success with the new ownership, BMO , Grey Cup etc..
It's always five years down the road that matters.

I expect more venom from the Red Patch Girls if the Argos come out and confirm the numbers.
I hope so Kevin, it's a real hoot to visit that forum and read it, makes my day at times. Some of them are too friggin funny with their knickers in a big knot! :D

I hear you on that it’s almost like someone made a mistake and placed one to many zeros on that total…“Oh it was just a mistake. We meant to say 1,500 ST’s” I’m thinking that the numbers are somewhat inflated and somewhere in between probably closer to 10,000 than 15,000 but still very encouraging considering that this team couldn’t draw flies last year no matter where they played.

That’s true Red Head. The Argos did get a bounce with season tickets well over 10,000 in the year they hosted the 100th Grey Cup - and even though the Argos won the Grey Cup - a bunch of people did not renew their season tickets and by two years later more than half of them were gone.

So as always with a new stadium there will be a big boost - helped even further because of the Grey Cup tie in. But it is all about maintaining that in years to come to be truly successful.

With the ownership they now have - I’m cautiously optimistic.

I honestly think this would have happened even if the Grey Cup wasn’t a part of it, so seeing these numbers doesn’t surprise me, I fully expected it. Going to an outdoor stadium, getting out of Rogers, having games every other week as opposed to whenever, having it at a smaller capacity and having new ownership has all contributed to this. The has always been there, it just needed a reason to be expressed again…

Waiting to see the schedule so I can plan a trip. It is great to see them out of the deaddome and into a facility more fans will appreciate and hopefully fall in love with their Argos all over again.

I agree it has more to do with ownership than anything else.

When C & S took over average attendance went from 15K to 25K in their first season. They Grey Cup hosting year in their fouth season.

I recall they mention the peak in terms of STHs during their tenure was around 12.5K so if they clear and exceed 15 in a smaller stadium with good sightlines that bodezls very well down the road.

It would be nice to hear from Argos or CFL officials on the number but I’ll ask when I pick in 9 days

@garylawless: "@GeoffLWright: @garylawless do you expect a better turnout in Toronto for Argos games?" Yes. I think over 14 k in season tix already

I wonder what Lawless's source is for that figure. It seems in line based on the OP.

I'm guessing the team won't announce the current figure until the general public sale

I can’t find this tweet.
Can you post a screen shot? What day was this tweeted?

The original post was correct as Neely had it, I saw it. Seems to have disappeared from Geoff Wright's twitter (re tweeted by Lawless) Probably still rumour and not substantiated by anybody yet.

Too bad the original tweet is not viewable anymore.

guys, we arent going to hear anything concrete until AFTER the superbowel hype has dissipated. theres no point trying to compete with it so any positive news will be in the absolute off season.

and it will be glorious

Good point.

I’m curious how many season tickets TFC have sold for the 2016 season?

16K?
