MONTREAL — The Eastern Final came to a screeching halt on Saturday evening, when Toronto Argonauts’ quarterback Chad Kelly injured his leg and was stretchered off of the field.
Because what goes around comes around. Karma is a spiritual belief that is all about cause and effect. The thinking is that if you put good into the world, good comes back to you. If you choose to do harm, well, you can’t cheat karma .
We all got your back Chad. You are a proven warrior and dedicated to the cause
Here’s hoping for a quick recovery and return to the football field in 2026 to continue your reign of excellence
I know you will be on a mission to recovery
GO ARGOS
What does Karma say about taking pleasure misfortunes. You might rather support the orginal wronged party though positive action instead of taking pleasure in the negative. I’m with you on the Karma, but you might want to excise your personal demons before letting them go here.
Shades of the 2007 East Final but not the Bombers #1 QB going down this time. At least the Argos don’t have a raw Dinwiddie starting for them after their #1 QB goes down with an injury the game before the Grey Cup!
Argos can still win if their defence rises to the occasion. The D line must stop Brady O. and get some sacks. The secondary has to play above its usual level and not get picked apart. Maybe consider using a sixth defensive back in passing situations.
You are correct. The word is actually schadenfreude. Taking pleasure in someone else’s misfortune.
There is no such thing as karma. Bad things don’t happen to people who do bad things while those who do good things are immune to bad things happening. Things happen at random. There are no karma elves or angels directing the flow of events.
Rather than go on, if anyone is interested you can listen to Bill Maher explain why there is no such thing as karma much more eloquently than I ever could. I posted his explanation in the forum a couple of years ago and will link that post.
I was going to use that term as well and it is a synonym for karma. But neither are actually a thing, just a description that is a misnomer. If you have 10 minutes I highly recommend that you watch the Bill Maher link I provided on karma. It’s also hilarious.
I have watched it, and agree with it too …
There’s no God or Deity controlling this stuff.
Karma, or Poetic Justice or whatever term used, to me is just a description the situation … Sort of like no matter what brand of facial tissue you buy everyone calls it Kleenex.
If one says Karma finally caught with that person they usually don’t mean it literally. But one can instantly identify what was meant.
Absolutely. Another term is “what goes around comes around” or “you get what you deserve”. No. There are far too many examples throughout history that disprove this. It can happen, but there is no such thing as karma. If it does and people are happy about it, like some are with Kelly’s injury even though that is wrong in my view, it is properly called schadenfreunde.
I can honestly say I feel sorry when bad things happen to people who are not beacons of morality… But can also say I have much more empathy for the good people when life craps on them
