Argos home opener almost sold out.

This is great to see.!
I had wondered in the past if Tigats fans. Came to the Rivalry game.
A little advertising by the Argos in Hamilton seems to have done the trick.

Maybe give this opening season Argo Home game on a Sat afternoon.

Could be promoted as the Battle of the QEW

Good news !

As much as news papers the old fashioned style left me as I just read on line this ad shows up when you walk into a gas station or see a box on the street .

It’s a splash that helps with promotion . Good to see some marketing .

Heading down to the game from the Hammer on Sat afternoon. It’s awesome having the GO stop right in front of the stadium. Going down in the morning though to see the Wolfpack play at 1. Their stadium is only 3 blocks away from BMO. Should be a great double-header. Might even weasel in for the Arkells to make a triple-header.

Great to hear that the home opener is at least closeto a sellout.
Nothing worse than tuning into a broadcast and seeing a mostly empty stadium (a smaller stadium to boot) in the nation’s largest market.

Also great to see the Sun playing up this rivalry game (which it most certainly is) in the paper.

Lets hope this starts a trend moving forward. The Ticats-Argo games are the easiest for travel between the respective fanbases, and should be the largest profile (and certainly largest attended) rivalry game in the league (which as of now, it is nowhere near being).

James Wilder adding a little fuel to the fire.

Didn't he try out for the WWE in the off-season?

this is WWE marketing 101

This is positive news. Strong attendance is good news for everyone.

Good stuff. The raptors must have put the Toronto fans in a good mood, keep it up.

It is a Saturday afternoon game with Hamilton fans coming in greater numbers than usual. If I recall, (and I’m going strictly by memory), the last few games in Toronto that started the season were maybe weeknights? (I recall meeting the wife after work at the Go Station, so must be a weeknight).

This is the perfect storm. Afternoon. Hamilton’s favourite band, Arkells, playing across the street (and managed to get the game moved to the afternoon in order to see both).

I know a couple dozen fans going to the game, and all but 3 are going to the concert after. All but my wife and I, who are going to the concert, ONLY bought Ticat/Argo tickets AFTER the game was moved to the afternoon.

Scheduling was ON THE BALL for this one!

Reasons that I see for a good crowd:

Hamilton fans travel well to their rivals - easy access with the GO train right there.

Arkells concert.

Afternoon game with nice weather

Ricky Ray retirement - a well respected player throughout the league - even by Hamilton fans! ::slight_smile: I hope that most fans are in their seats for the ceremony before the game

should do it at halftime.

no one will be in their seats prior to the snap.

Hardly anybody was still in the stadium at halftime either

;D

Was happy they did it at 4pm, not before…I made sure to be in my seats, but was pleasantly surprised that most made it to their seats for the ceremony.

Was glad to give that man a standing ovation!

Definitely a class act, still had a deadly accurate arm. Too bad the rest of the body couldn’t keep up. Hate to see the greats have to be carried off into retirement.

Yes, same here. At the start of last season I thought he’d play another couple of seasons before riding off into the sunset. Sad that he had to call it quits less than 2500 yards behind Henry Burris for third place on the CFL’s all-time passing yardage list.

???

how is under 17,000 ‘almost’ sold out ?

Well the layout at BMO for the games only has a capacity of like 20,000 I think, a large portion of the stadium isn’t being used and BMO not a large place, witch is why it was almost sold out

Saw that. Was a bit disappointing

do u work for mlse/argos ?

CapacityatBMO Fieldfor Toronto FC matches is normally 30,000, but can be expanded to up to 36,000 with temporary seating’
