GMs for both teams will report directly to Keith Pelley.
Hoping they hire separate presidents down the road.

Well now. Is this part of Act I for the return of Chad Kelly swept up in a broader organizational overhaul?
And of course perhaps sweeping whatever has been left uncovered under another rug?
If this has anything to do with the Chad Kelly situation, then Pinball should be seeing some repercussions, as well.
Or maybe its just coincidental
well…hmh…I have a hard time with coincidences …especially when they occur after shite hits the fan. So,legend or not, I think you are right about Pinball. Maybe, they will demote him to vice-president in charge of paper clips.
It think this has been in the planning stages ever since Pelley came on board.
TFC is in the midst of a rebuild that’s not going well but I don’t think the Chad Kelly situation plays a role too.
Many have wondered about repercussions Pinball has to face don’t mention he has a boss too.
.who wore one too many hats IMO.
TORONTO — Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment announced on Thursday that the organization and Bill Manning, who served as president of the Toronto Argonauts and Toronto FC, have mutually agreed to part ways effective today.
I wonder if he’ll take the fall for the Chad Kelly situation?
Yup, what a cowinkydink.
I don’t know what a cowinkydink is…but just the sound of it seems to fit Pinball. I am not sure if he was ever considered to be a true executive. His legend more, or less, catapulted him into a role of “front-man” or promoter. Nevertheless, his cowardice in the Chad drama tarnished that image…so cowindydink fits…let’s go with that
Having the same President did not do justice to either Toronto FC or the Argos. I would assume each will get their own Prez.
And despite the heavy sweeping under the rug & his responsibility in Chadgate, I can see Pinball being named Argos President. In reality, other than the forum here, he was not smeared by the media. Only John Murphy was somewhat.
Pinball is a sacred cow in Toronto. That one’s a bit of a sticky situation and a potential landmine for anyone making a move against him
I think this had little to do with Chad Kelly. In my opinion Manning was gone in Pelly’s mind a soon as he took control of MLSE. Manning a nice man and all but was not a football guy, Soccer maybe but he wasn’t needed as a figure head President of the Argos. Pelly has been the President of the Argos in the past and could probably see what was needed there, and it wasn’t somebody who wasn’t a real Football guy. I’m just surprised it took so long.
Pinball fumbled the Chad handoff. But, he was probably under pressure from his handlers. I doubt he had/has the authority, or responsibility, that goes with his title. Even if he was handed the Prez title, he would still be in charge of paper clips only.
Article in the OP has been expanded.
The Chad Kelly situation did not factor into making this change per Pelley.
Hopefully it’s still an opportunity to revamp the structure on top
2003-2007 when Pelley was in charge of the Argos and they were at their highest popularity this century
Toronto F C finished dead last , previous season, this year near the middle. Their attendance 2022, 2023 was in the top 5, but the Agros attendance is disgusting. Hopefully things will improve
Unless you live in some alternate universe like say the Blackhawks front office, it is typical the guy at the top takes the fall.
Likely its between that and, usually, a guy like Pelley leaves an easy to follow road map of the successful things they are doing with an organization. When you step away from successful to what you think will be successful…and when they are not…
It is extremely unlikely that Manning would have had anything to do with the Kelly situation and just as unlikely that the highly respected Pelley would start off by lying in saying that Manning leaving had nothing to do with Kelly. I believe him.
Unfortunately that means that there has still been no discipline leveled against anyone in the Argos organization for their handling of the Kelly situation. I thought at least Murphy would have been scapegoated by now, even though it should be the head of Clemons that rolls. He was the man in charge, he was told about it and he gave the Black Hawk response and swept it under the rug. Games to play and all that.
It is starting to appear that no one in the Argos organization will be held to task by the league or the organization itself. I hope not.
Nice corporate spin that I am not buying, especially given the timing
Yup, @Jon was right, Montreal Backup aint too good
