Argonauts beat Bombers to punch playoff ticket

WINNIPEG — The Toronto Argonauts’ defence came to play on Friday night. The Argos came away with a 14-11 victory in a defensive showdown with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the opening game of Thanksgiving Weekend presented by Purolator to punch their ticket to the playoffs and bring Winnipeg’s eight-game winning run to a halt.

Great game to watch for fans of good defence. I can’t remember a game with so many 3rd and one plays resulting in turnovers, including ones at the goal line.
Argos D line was awesome. Collaros was under extreme pressure all night, and after giving up a touchdown on the Argos first drive the Bomber defence was solid.
Both teams have great running games, but neither could run consistently against the other. A nice change from some of the high scoring games we’ve seen recently.
Argos and Bombers will be tough to beat in the playoffs and we could easily see a rematch of the 2022 Grey Cup.

Got to think this is not what the WBB wanted. They may be forced to play the starting lineup “If” the Riders beat BC tomorrow.
WBB would then have to beat Montreal in the final league game in Montreal. That game is played in the afternoon with the Riders playing Calgary to close out the season that same evening. So WBB will need to play the last league game against Montreal as a must win or face a possible second place finish. CRAZY!

The Chad is improving but he still hasn’t reached peak form. Having the extra playoff game will be a big help for the Argonauts this year.

Is this the same Bomber team that decimated Hamilton ( mainly using Oliveira ) last week?? Sure didnt look like that team.

It would be poetic justice for the Chad Kelly critics if the Argos go to the finals.

So the “Command Center” reviews the Argo stop on the 1 yard line saving Winnipeg a challenge but they don’t review the Winnipeg stop at the 1
What’s up with that? :man_shrugging:

And even more poetic if they win the Grey Cup!

Those who dislike Kelly have good reason not to like the creep and are not critics of the game. (Mod Edit: inaccurate factual statements)The Argo management have a lot to answer for as well. As for the rest of the players, I wish them well - without them Kelly would be washed up. As far as being poetic justice - well that just tells us what the person who made such a lame-o comment feels towards women - he’s no better than Kelly.

This win was sweet. Super defence. Brady boy didn’t get to do his chicken dance and the Hamilton tabby cats finish in the basement. This is almost better than winning the Grey Cup, but I’ll take the Grey Cup thanks.

The Bomber team that lost to the Argos didn’t look like our team at all. First clue that they might be imposters? THEY LOST.

Normally that’s all the evidence we need but just to be sure we’ll be asking our players to bring their ID with them when they board the plane to Montreal. Those who aren’t who they say they are will be punted from first class and forced to finish their flight by roughing it in ‘coach’. No free wine and caviar for them.

It’s a harsh penalty but an example HAS to be made. :beaver:

It was the same Bomber team that clobbered the TiCats last week. The difference was their opponent. They were playing the Argos who have a much better DLine. If the Cats had sacked Collaros 7 times they might have won.
