Don't get me wrong. I acknowledge that the Argo defense is spectacular and possibly one of the best the CFL has seen but are they really that good? I didn't see the Bomber game but from what I heard, it seemed every pass Glenn tried was for 5 or 6 yards. Nothing downfield, nothing to stretch the D.
Now my question is, do the Argos have a defense that is that good or are offensive coordinators so scared to go deep that it allows them to swarm the short passes?
I was thinking about that last night. Those guys seem to never blow their coverage and wherever the balls thrown, there seems to be 2or 3 guys there all the time.
I was only able to watch the second half, that's all I got recorded, but from what I saw, both defenses played very well. The problem seemed to be, on both sides, bad passes by the QB, or dropped passes by the receivers. From what I saw, the Bombers could have won if their receivers had made the catches that were thrown their way.
If the Argos play the Riders next week the way they played on Saturday, the Riders will blow them out of the water.
I haven't watched the Stamp/Als game yet, I'm going to watch that tomorrow, but the Bombers really need to up their game offensively if they want to win. The way they played, the Ti-Cats could have beaten them easily,
For years, Toronto defense has been strong but weak offenses in east division might help in keeping scores low. Since highest scoring teams are in the west, western defenses have a harder time.
Toronto plays a very smart defence. They'll give their opponents a bunch of stuff under 10 yrds forcing the latter to string many plays together in a row in order to score.
They just sit back waiting for a mistake and before you know it...wham! The ball is headed the other way.
