You look at the ARgos situation with nobody stepping up to buy this team.
Especially from the big players in the city.
And you have to wonder if there is some kind of conspiracy to kill off this team?
Why would the two stooges decide to unload this team for no reason?
Sure they're not getting rich wiht the ARgos, but so aren't the other owners of Toronto teams.
Except for the Leafs of course.
But why are these two guys getting out all of a sudden?
Did they make some kind of deal with Rogers or MLSE involving a future NFL team?
And why is noboyd stepping up to even make an offer for this team, outside of David Braley?
Something smells concerning the treatment of this franchise in Toronto.
But amazing a team that draws 26,000 a game and draws hundreds of thousands of viewers in the
Toronto area in a league that is growing each year can't get one interested party to buy them?
Very strange.
And when you factor in Rogers and MLSE's NFL dreams, and the fact the CFL is a major stumbling block,
its starts to smell.
berezin, I have no idea if there is a conspiracy or not, who knows. What I do know is that I'm sure there are people at Rogers and MLSE who do not want to see a city just down the road in Hamilton build a new stadium that could take some pizazz away from Rogers' Blue Jays and MLSE's TFC. It doesn't take a genious to figure that out. And with the 100th Grey Cup in Toronto in a few years, if the Argos ever were to build a new stadium, again pizzaz taken away from the Blue Jays and TFC. Again you have to presume Rogers and MLSE would like to see the Argos go under in Toronto as well as the CFL. Is this a conspiracy? I don't think so, I think it's quite obvious actually. There are people who fear, and I do use the word fear, for the possible success of the Argos in Toronto and as well the TiCats just down the road.
Who in their right mind would want to own the Argos ?
1- As crazy as this seems, they don't have a stadium to play in. They have to negotiated with a company who is also the tennant of the NFL pimps who also happen to own the TV network the league ditched for really no reason when you look at the lousy tv deal they signed with TSN.
2- League refuses to acknowledge that it needs to share in shouldering that franchise until a proper venue is built or something major changes in the attitude of MLSE or Rogers. Could be a long time but hey, it is what it is.
3- The franchise is unable to make money and while a couple big mouths will say it is management. As you saw trying to reduce coaching expenditures, it is not so simple.
4- The football operations side of the business is in shambles, when Buratto leaves to take an assistant job down the road with the "cheapest" GM in the business you know you got some issues.
What is really too bad, I think there are roughly 45 000 paying fans if things could be fixed but the lack of control over the stadium and its revenue streams is a deal killer. Ask Bob Young if he would be interested in a deal where he pays rent but has no access to any concessions , parking, permanent adverts ?
Brailey is willing to stop gap but I've seen nothing that shows he's interested in doing this long term.
Please remember though guys Toronto has a fantastic core of solid CFL fans and Argo fans are no. 1 with what's going on right now with the team and ownership. Just saying don't lump the whole city into a basket of American wannabees.
There is little question there is a conspiracy to bring down the Argos. Their goal is to destroy the CFL and pave the way for American imperialist forces to gain a foothold in Canada's cultural and financial nerve centre. The destruction of the Argos are merely the first step. The Ti-Cats and Als will soon be next. What is the real reason why the powers in Ottawa refuse to rebuild there crumbling stadium? This is all part of their nefarious plan, my friends. They WILL NOT stop, NOTHING can stop them until they reach their ultimate goal.
Too friggin funny! Also, anyone who is involved at all with a new Canadian football type stadium and mentions the words "Canadian football" in a positive light will be immediately put on the RCMP terrorist list as a potential threat to this nation's security.
Some things it is just not politically correct to joke about. Even a little dose of sarcasm can land you in hot water. Some NBA type put this in his blog on ESPN and was promptly dumped by ESPN:
"Dear Haitians –
First of all, kudos on developing the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Your commitment to human rights, infrastructure, and birth control should be applauded.
As we prepare to assist you in this difficult time, a polite request: If it’s possible, could you not re-build your island home in the image of its predecessor? Could you not resort to the creation of flimsy shanty- and shack-towns? And could some of you maybe use a condom once in a while?
Sincerely,
The Rest of the World"
