Oski Wee Wee,

Trade is Real

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that the team has acquired import receiver Frank Murphy from the Toronto Argonauts in exchange for import running back Anthony Davis.
"The addition of Frank to our offence upgrades our receiving corps," said general manager Bob O'Billovich. "We believe that Frank's abilities make him a great fit for this team."

Murphy recorded 37 receptions for 614 yards and two touchdowns with the Argos in 2007, his first CFL campaign. Prior to joining the Argonauts, Murphy had stints with the NFL's Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Houston Texans and Chicago Bears after being drafted by the Bears in the sixth round (170th overall) of the 2000 NFL Draft.

Unfortunately it's true.

I hate to see us weaken a strong spot. I liked Davis it's a shame.

You beat me to it Tom.

i like the deal

Davis played well at times last year but i think that Caulley Was better. With Lumsden Starting and Caulley as a back up, i like our 1-2 punch at RB.

also we need all the help we can get at WR

Hopefully this is just a small dose of what is still to come

I think we're considerably stronger as a team. Davis was a seldom used, 3rd running back. Murphy is a good addition to a very serious weak area on the team.

Davis was never going to get play time behind both Lumsden and Cauley anyways. The trade is a wash.

We're still looking for that big #1 reciever of course, but I believe that Terrence Edwards was a throwaway player from the Als and he had a breakout season this past year.

garbage receiver in an already garbage receiving core. Makes no sense to me. I would rather have 3 good running backs than 8 bad receivers. Bad trade, i guess it's good for Anthony Davis though.

Kind of makes you look foolish citing a post count for credibility. In fact I know more credible sources NOT on this site than credible sourses on it

receiving corps.

He has been added to the online Roster
This good Deal 1 back had to go
With 4 Running Backs Jesse Terry and Antoine and A.D
You kind new Jesse was Safe
Terry and Antoine Are Closer to same kind of Back Jesse is

Because we have depth at RB and nothing that Obie wants at WR?

I think the Argos win this trade by a small margin. Murphy was in and out of the lineup all season. He had his opportunities but was never able to breakthrough and claim a starting job. Same with Davis but I think he still has an upside that can be developed. Murphy is as good as he'll ever be.

Didn't Terrence Edwards end up in the 'Peg because of some clerical error made in the Als front office? filing papers late or something?

An Argo-Cat fan

my bad, i guess it's kind of a garbage trade. I kind of recant my statement as it doesn't really benefit either team. we get another average receiver and the argos get another slightly above average running back. I wouldn't be surprised if one or both are cut by the start of next year.

I don't think 37 carries for 614 yards is exactly a garbage receiver. I love the way people around here welcome a guy to the city.

I think Davis is a good back and I'm not sold on the trade because it weakens one of our few solid spots, but it's done. Best of luck to Davis and Welcome to the Hammer Murphy.

i think this is a garbage trade. we get another average receiver and they get another slightly above average running back, so it's lose lose for both teams. i bet one or both are cut by next season.

Looks like a good trade for both teams. Murphy played really well at times last year, but then seemed to be pushed off to the side for some reason.

Hamilton had 3 running backs gain over 100 yrds in a game last year ( I don't think any other CFL team can make that claim),so the'Cats traded from a strength to help out a weak area.

Brock Ralph: 50 rec 721 yds 3 td's
Jason Armstead: 46 Rec's 618 yds 1 TD
Jason French: 34 Rec's 417 yds 4 TD's
Chris Bauman: 30 rec's 350 yd's 0TD's
Nate Curry: 30 rec's 320 yds 1 TD
JoJo Walker: 29 rec's 288 yd's 2TD's
how many more average receivers do we need?
