I noticed the league is still using the hashtag #KeepItUnreal from last season. It’s a real ‘meh’ for me. Does anyone know if the league is planning a new launch for 2025?
With all of the geopolitical stuff going on and the surge of CDN patriotism, I was hoping they could come up with something really catchy and memorable (e.g. along the lines of ‘Radically Canadian’).
CFL rarely does what the fans want and often looks at the bottom line first.
Examples from the past include
the death of “CFL Week”.
Not getting rid of certain rules or implementing ones that change the game to appease American fans like moving the hashmarks.
Individual team deciding to have both teams on the same sideline.
The CFL most likely had a multi-year deal with the “Keep it unreal” slogan and wouldn’t throw that money away for anything that was nationalistic. Also it would be hard to have a nationalistic slogan when they are trying to get international money.
Why is that a problem? there is at least 30 yards separating the teams with the officials, timekeepers etc between them. And they can advertise on the boards which can be seen on TV.
