Is this the first year the Grey Cup was NOT played on the Sunday immediately following American Thanksgiving?
Season was moved back one week to avoid blizzard weather … or was this a coincidence?

US TG is always the 4th Thursday of November. So when November 1st is on a Friday, it pushes it back a week later than usual.
The last time it happened was the same day six years ago; November 24, 2013. The earliest the Grey Cup has been played is November 16, 2003, so this has happened quite a few times (any game played 24th or earlier).
I prefer the Grey Cup game before the US Thanksgiving Day.
