Somehow I doubt we'll rack up another 28-0 lead. last night was one of those games where everything goes your way. The ticats are reeling though and need one good blow to go up 2 games and tie the season series with the tiebreak on the line sept. 28 in their house.
Perfect setup for AC to become the second all time pro TD passer on his birthday and in his house against his old team. Hopefully ticket sales will pick up during the week for this one. Still lots of 'em available.
Go Stamps Go tonight in the meantime.
Ben Cahoon was mentioning on the CJAD halftime show that he'd always make fun of AC by being a few days older than him.
As I said in my Als-Esks post, it's way too early to shout hallelujah at this point, but the last game was a great team W, the STs notwithstanding.
Even though the Ticats haven't had great success in Montreal, the Als have to be thinking about a W on Thursday. Sports is not about what you did for me yesterday, last week, last year...; it's what you will do for me today. With the inclusion of two great QBs, both Toronto and Hamilton have improved their chances of making it to the EF; ergo, neither team can ever be taken for granted.
So, it will be more of the same, please! On O, let's see a dominant performance from the opening whistle! Now, AC, you know that you have great primary and secondary weapons off the bench - wow! O-line - great protection and open more holes, either for Whitaker or Anderson. D-line - Burris in the sack - a lot!!!!
For my part, I would like nothing better than to see a lopsided W for the Als; that would help build confidence that they could beat any team any time.
OBillovich might be asking that - apparently paying him $150,000 to sit on the bench. But I wouldnt count him out, if there ever was a clutch CFL player it is Cobourne. I`m sure we will be seeing more of him as the season progresses.
I don't think it is fair to him. He hasn't had a training camp or a game snap since last year. It will take him a few games to get his feet back. I just hope when Cortez gets his head out of his... that he will give Avon at least four games before judging him.
If Trent Guy is not 100% healthy, I sure hope that Jayson Foster-WR/Kr- will be activated from the practice roster; Bo Bowling is not the answer. Foster cannot be worse.
As some of you, I hope that Mike Lockley-DE- will remain/will play. If Brandon Whitaker dresses/play, I would hope that Ed Gainey-CB- will be healthy scratch rather than Lockley. If Jamel Richardson is OK to play, I would sit Bo Bowling. Finally, Seth Williams shoud remain on 1 game injury list. Osaisai was not too bad in Edmonton.
Can't stand Bowling returning kicks. He doesn't have breakaway speed and his judgment on whether to field a kick or let it bounce for a safety is terrible. If Guy isn't healthy, I'd replace Bowling with Foster and Guy with Victor Anderson, and have Foster and Anderson returning kicks. (assuming Whitaker is healthy and able to be our starting tailback)
As some of you, I hope that Mike Lockley-DE- will remain/will play. If Brandon Whitaker dresses/play, I would hope that Ed Gainey-CB- will be healthy scratch rather than Lockley. Agreed on all counts. Can't believe I'm saying this, but Osaisai didn't acquit himself too badly against Edmonton. Mind you, as Hfx pointed out, Hamilton has better receivers than Edmonton does, so the jury is still out, but Osaisai definitely looks more comfortable at corner, where he can just play the man and not worry about checking off so much. Fewer balls come his way at corner as well, considering that he's on the strong side now.
Wow, Cortez must really not have much confidence in Avon if he's splitting reps with a raw rookie.
The Als will probably need Lockley with Mullinder likely out. He`s tweeting his ankle is painful and he is having x-rays taken.
Our CanCon takes another hit. Problem with Lockley is that he's too small to play inside. Mullinder can do both (although he's more effective inside than outside). With Mullinder and Bekasiak out and Pall on the 9-game, our depth at DT is perilously thin. All we have are our starters, Jenkins and Cash. Behind them, nobody, unless we want to play Adebayo inside (at 268 lbs, he's the heaviest of the defensive ends we have).
They might have to dress Murrell and not afford the luxury of an extra American DB and use Carter. And if the extra DB is Osaisai it`s not a luxury in any case.
Murrell can't play inside. He's 6'2'' and 250 lbs. I'd be fine with using Carter as the extra DB, but it's not even a ratio issue, or a question of who comes out. It's the fact that if Mullinder can't play next week, we only have two healthy defensive tackles across our entire roster (active, 1-game injured, 9-game injured, practice roster), and those two tackles, Jenkins and Cash, are frequently on the field at the same time.
Murrell was listed at DT on the last depth chart of 46 players even though he didn`t dress. But I guess you can take that with a grain of salt. His background is DE/LB.
So I guess unless we bring Hunt back - just kidding - it`s going to be a challenge to find depth at DT.
Yeah, the depth chart is garbage. I've given up expecting it to be useful. Murrell is listed on the roster page at DE, and that's definitely what his size indicates. I don't think you can play effective DT on a regular basis unless you're at least in the 270 lbs. range, and preferably a bit taller than 6'2''. That's why I was thinking of Adebayo, who's 6'4'' and 268 lbs.
So I guess unless we bring Hunt back - just kidding - it`s going to be a challenge to find depth at DT.
I wonder if we can sign a castoff from another team purely for injury depth?
Yeah, that sounds about right. Just someone to be that depth guy in case of injury and occasionally spell Jenkins or Cash. Probably we won't see as many two-DT sets if Mullinder can't go.
