Well, Hamilton came out completely flat against the Riders today and are no threat to us. For the Esks-Lions game, I am a big Rickey Ray fan tonight and hope they beat the Leos but good! So far (to coin a line from an old Beatles' song) we've had a litle help from our "friends".
But tomorrow our destiny is entirely in our own hands. I sincerely hope that the Als come out mean and bent on avenging last week's loss. I'd like nothing more than a big score, but I'll settle for a W.

If there's one thing we've learned this season, it's that any team is a threat to any team at any time. Look at the two games this week. I wouldn't write Hamilton off. That said, we are guaranteed to be hosting them at the Big O, so I like our chances at home, particularly if some of our walking wounded (Brown, Boulay) are ready for that game.
But for now, we just have to bear down and win tomorrow against Calgary. Winnipeg has given us an opening -- let's capitalize.

It is great football weather today. Sun and 7c… 
Well, so far, the Als are not looking like a 1st place team. Of course, there's all the rest of this quarter and all of the second half to go, but they are hardly dominating and intimidating. Calgary obvviously studied game video. Cornish's TD was almost identical to Winnipeg's. Well, I hope they have other tricks in their bag, otherwise the one-trick pony approach is going to come back to hurt us.
C'mon guys! This is playoff game! Let's get it going!

Who I am not impressed with: Laybourn (glad to see Woldu replace him; don’t know why Laybourn started); Brouillette
Impressive: Dix (phantom pi call I think); Whitaker; AC (sorry Senior); Trestman/Milanovich. . . they appear far more engaged in this one than the last game
The opposition has the book on the Als. They know we are weak in the secondary, and Tate has an arm.
This, I believe, is the Achilles' heel that will kill us. Unless, of course, some of the "replacements" finally make a play. Not looking good at this point.
LOL.. . they oughtta pay me. . . right after I am critical of Brouillette and Laybourn, they combine on a great play.
Once Emry and Brown come back, Spencer and Dix go to backup roles and you will see a big difference.

Only thing, Hfx, is that Emry and Brown have hardly played a down of football this season. Although I would love to see it, I doubt very much that they would be game-breakers in their first game back. But, as you say, it would allow us some wiggle room to back players up.
But that's for another day. Right now, we have to WIN! C'mon Als!!!
Well (sigh!) I hate to say it, but we've seen this film before! AC is off his game again, not hitting his receivers, not having a good game, in what is, to all intents and purposes, a playoff game!

Once again, we have gotten away from the running game! AC is off his passing game and we have the best RB in the league! Sigh! How long are we going to sound like broken records on this one?
Another 2-and-out! At this point, we're not playing like we deserve 1st place! At this point, I don't know who will take 1st in the East - the "best team" or the "least lousy". I guess I'm frstrated at this point. Think I'll watch a movie - this is too aggravating!

You can't win football games when you take 3 or 4 unsportman like penalties a game. Lack of discipline is killing the Als season. Bekasiak hit in the back on Tate was stupid to no end, looks like he injured his own teammate in the process. Game 17 and they still don't get it.
MJ... There is no way Trestman will pull AC, ever...
It is absolutely embarrassing that this late into a season that the team is still taking stupid unnecessary roughness penalties. It is the most selfish avoidable penalty and this team has mastered the art of taking them whenever things start going well. And Calvillo has played terribly this half there has to be a point where the coach pulls him for the good of the team. At this point Calvillo has had about as many bad games as good this season. Hopefully by next season we are at least doing a platoon with mcpherson
