Als interested in Henry Burris?

That will be the key. Will Burris want more money for a team on the rebuild or take less money and prossibly a back up role for a chance with atea like the Als that still have the talent right now to win a Grey Cup even if they are not the favorites going into the season.
Hank has seen that a team can turn it around very quickly though and it would fit Buris’s plan perfectly of starting for two season and the Bombers in the grey cup by his second season.

…I can see the Als. being remotely in the game BUT Ottawa  The RedBlacks haven’t even got their feet wet and Pedersen sees them as the place where Burris will land???Good luck on that Henry…IF Burris were to be signed by either the Als. or Ottawa there is going to be a quarterback on the out in either city…Troy Smith would certainly raise his eyebrows as would Glenn…Guess we’ll have to wait for an announcement this week, of some kind ,regarding Henry…Talk in the Peg is that Bombers have made a very substantial offer, but are prepared to drop out of the running if the price tag gets ridiculous…We’ll see

If its money (at least a number shown on a piece of paper, didn’t work out so great for the last 10 or so QB to sign in Winnipeg, not a one saw the money) he will go to Winnipeg but if he’s concerned about the ability of his oline protecting him or wining something in the next year or two, I could see him taking a lower offer with incentives. I think he will go with the money and sign with you guys before the end of the week (before free agency hits and the Bombers turn their sights on Willy).

I can`t see Burris signing with any team but Winnipeg. All Popp is doing is driving up the ante, who knows maybe his intention.

I`m more curious to see who ends up making the better decision, Hamilton with Collaros or Winnipeg with Burris/Willy.

Interesting item from Winnipeg Press- Approximate Salaries of CFL QB'S :

Calvillo $400 000, Rick Ray $400 000, Burris $300 000, Durant $300 000, Tate $300 000, Lulay $250 000. The newspaper states that Callaros earns $250 000 plus incentives. Drew Willy was not offered a new contract. No mention of WPeg in this report.

Lulay a eu un contrat de 450 000$ l’an dernier. Je suis surpris que le journal l’ait oublié.

Marcel Desjardins and Rick Campbell to make an announcement at 11 am (Before the congress)

TSN reporting Burris has signed with the RedBlacks. Certainly a surprise to me. Does Kevin Glenn become trade bait?

Glenn a déjà été le “substitut” de jeunes quarts dernièrement (Porter, Tate), voudra-t-il devenir le substitut d’un vétéran comme Burris?

Il pourrait permettre l’acquisition de joueurs intéressants. À Winnipeg?

Not according to Marcel. He says it is the key position and he’s excited to be deep at the position. It will be an interesting season. Marcel, Henry and Marwan in Ottawa

Euh… On doit s’attendre à quoi, au juste?

Un echange entre la fin de la periode d’agent libre et mi-saison.

Merci! C’est plus clair comme ça.

Kick in the teeth to Kevin Glenn who has been doing some promo work for the Rouge et Noir.
I heard a rumour (TSN1200 I believe) that Ottawa paid well over 400K and that Winnipeg wasn’t in the ballpark for money. They can afford to spend more on QBs than most teams as they will have a younger 9ergo cheaper) team overall.

Gotta love what the RedBlacks are doing. Coaching staff in place and a couple of veteran QB's to boot.

And the deal is everyone has to live in the Ottawa community ! Desjardins, Campbell even Burris family. Can you imagine that !?

Read in an Ottawa paper today that Burris’ family has never seen him play live, so hard to believe the residency requirement if that is true.

I am not saying its written in the contract but i suspect it is talked about during the contract discussions and part of the decision making. Good for them.

Understood, but I was referring to any context; written or verbal. And of course it also presumes the newspaper got it right.
