That will be the key. Will Burris want more money for a team on the rebuild or take less money and prossibly a back up role for a chance with atea like the Als that still have the talent right now to win a Grey Cup even if they are not the favorites going into the season.
Hank has seen that a team can turn it around very quickly though and it would fit Buris’s plan perfectly of starting for two season and the Bombers in the grey cup by his second season.
…I can see the Als. being remotely in the game BUT Ottawa  The RedBlacks haven’t even got their feet wet and Pedersen sees them as the place where Burris will land???Good luck on that Henry…IF Burris were to be signed by either the Als. or Ottawa there is going to be a quarterback on the out in either city…Troy Smith would certainly raise his eyebrows as would Glenn…Guess we’ll have to wait for an announcement this week, of some kind ,regarding Henry…Talk in the Peg is that Bombers have made a very substantial offer, but are prepared to drop out of the running if the price tag gets ridiculous…We’ll see
If its money (at least a number shown on a piece of paper, didn’t work out so great for the last 10 or so QB to sign in Winnipeg, not a one saw the money) he will go to Winnipeg but if he’s concerned about the ability of his oline protecting him or wining something in the next year or two, I could see him taking a lower offer with incentives. I think he will go with the money and sign with you guys before the end of the week (before free agency hits and the Bombers turn their sights on Willy).
Interesting item from Winnipeg Press- Approximate Salaries of CFL QB'S :
Calvillo $400 000, Rick Ray $400 000, Burris $300 000, Durant $300 000, Tate $300 000, Lulay $250 000. The newspaper states that Callaros earns $250 000 plus incentives. Drew Willy was not offered a new contract. No mention of WPeg in this report.
Not according to Marcel. He says it is the key position and he’s excited to be deep at the position. It will be an interesting season. Marcel, Henry and Marwan in Ottawa
Kick in the teeth to Kevin Glenn who has been doing some promo work for the Rouge et Noir.
I heard a rumour (TSN1200 I believe) that Ottawa paid well over 400K and that Winnipeg wasn’t in the ballpark for money. They can afford to spend more on QBs than most teams as they will have a younger 9ergo cheaper) team overall.
I am not saying its written in the contract but i suspect it is talked about during the contract discussions and part of the decision making. Good for them.
