For me it's between Obiozor and Lockley, the second-year man. Lockley has more CFL experience, but Obiozor seems to have had a strong preseason and his extra height (6'4'' to Lockley's 6'2'') may help him deal with one-on-one matchups against offensive tackles.
True, but you’re not going to start an inferior player at defensive end, one of the most important positions on the team, just because he brings more as an ST player than the other guy. We absolutely need a good bookend to John Bowman and we need the best player available. Regardless of who wins the spot, I want the best DE to win.
Nothing really surprising here. I feel bad for Lockley, and I hope he catches on somewhere else, but Obiozor outplayed him in preseason and he's bigger to boot. Hopkins, Berry, and Cash should be a very solid trio of DTs with Adebayo as the NI backup.
Edit: Actually, it's surprising to see Klassen make it. Kudos to that young man for bringing it in camp!
Can’t see Kuale staying since they don’t seem to have any plans to play him at LB and we’re not going to carry four import DEs on the roster. That’s assuming they don’t cut Obiozor of course.
Good move. He showed well in the first preseason game and he gives us a different type of option from our trio of bigger receivers (London, Green, Richardson).
