I know, it’s beyond frustrating. Those balls were exactly where they needed to be and there was not even a physical price to be paid for extending, because (as you said) the coverage was behind him.
He has nine catch in 14 games in his sixth full season with the team.
It's pathetic. And what's even worse is that he's still on the team. Makes it very clear that Trestman has no expectations from his NI receivers unless they are already demonstrably elite (like Ben Cahoon). :thdn:
If we can’t even expect 500 yards a season from our starting NI receiver, something is wrong.
Beyond sad I know Dave Stala had injury problems in MTL but boy would I swap those two knowing what we know now.
For real. At the time, Deslauriers looked like a great addition to the team, we also had Desriveaux in the mix, and Cahoon was still playing at a high level. Fast-forward to today and Deslauriers is a huge bust, Desriveaux is gone, Cahoon is retired, and we have no NI receiver talent in the pipeline. :(
We have two first round draft pick, hopefuly there is a NI early in the draft that can help us. I know there is at least one but will he be available with Edmonton's pick ???
And even more crucially, will we pick that receiver? Popp and Trestman's mentality has to change here.
Based on CFL Scouting report of September 2012, only 2 receivers are rated amongst top 15 players. One is Stephen Alli,6-6 and 221 of Florida-ranked 11- and Yannick Morin-Plante,6-0 and 200 of Laval.-ranked 15- I doubt that Jim Popp will draft for a WR in round 1.
The top prospects are Defensive and offensive linemen; Jim Popp will most probably select an offensive or defensive lineman with Edmonton's choice. I say/predict an OL. In round 1, RB Steven Lumbala,5-11 and 215,of Calgary-ranked 5- could also be an option. The Als do need an non-import RB.

Yes, Lestaf, that is true. When a player doesn't have enough reps you can expect a little rust.
I can't for the life of me explain what has happened to Green and Richardson this season. But Green, despite his drops, is still no. 2 in the league. Although I don't know this to be a fact, maybe Jamel is not going full out due to his injury; his drops constitute something new. Deslauriers, on the other hand, has done that his entire career, not just this season. At some point the team, the coaching staff, and your QB simply don't have confidence in him as a go-to guy or even as a reliable receiver.
Yes, I have noted for a couple of years now our team has been horrible at NI receiver. The demise of our offence this year was, I believe, the season ending injury to Withaker. His running/ receiving abilities were great. I believe the teams running game, before this injury, was more often used as compared to past seasons. DEfending against the Als was made more difficult with Whitaker in the mix. With Whitaker, I believe we had a better balanced offensive team re run/pass ratio.
It really happened. Even RDS confirmed it, which is why I’m expecting him to take it out on the argos. Trestman is putting it on frustration and seems to want to let it slide. Practice resumes today and tomorrow at parc Hebert. Maybe Johnny can go and tell them himself since it’s in his neighborhood.
