Alouettes sign former NFL WR Austin Collie, NOT!

Adjusting to the CFL is a huge for American receivers. It's a different mind-set here. In the NFL receivers try to score a TD with every catch, often hoping to catch the ball on the dead run. But unless the pass is a perfect, the ball often gets tipped or dropped...which is no biggee in the NFL because you always get a few more tries. In the CFL with 3 downs, making the catch and securing the 1st down is more important than trying to showboat a highlight reel TD catch. Some receivers out of the NFL and college never learn this, often trying to run with the ball before fully securing it. Also American receivers are sometimes reluctant to leap in traffic, exhibiting "alligator arms". In the CFL receivers are required to sacrifice their bodies if necessary to make the catch. Receivers who shy away from contact won't be in the CFL long, no matter what their NFL pedigree.

Where is the evidence that it’s huge adjustments for American receivers? They seem to handle it better than Canadians, are you saying that Luke Tasker or Banks in Hamilton or SJ Green or Stamps or any of the other top receivers in the CFL had a hard time adjusting?
Which American receivers are reluctant to leap into traffic??? The American receivers all come out of the NCAA where they play a much more contact game than the CIS…
You are trying to tell me that a NCAA receiver is more reluctant to leap into traffic than a CIS receiver ?

That theory sounds like the reaction of somebody who was only watching the Redblacks last year. Let me see. Big adjustment, or sucky receivers?

He had a heck of a career at BYU one of their best WR ever. he has the total pass receiving yards single season record with 1524 and nearly broke 1000 yards another season.

Really wish we could edit thread titles right about now. At least he's coming to the CFL

Austin Collie is heading to the CFL, but with the B.C. Lions.
The veteran receiver signed as a free agent with the Lions on Thursday, two days after published reports said the former Brigham Young University star had come to terms with the Montreal Alouettes.
Collie took to Twitter on Wednesday to deny the reports.
