The Als have a couple of guys who can handle return duties. Letcher is a lot younger & just as dynamic.

If I’m a betting man he ends up in Wpg. The West teams boast Leake, Alford, Williams along with Logan in Calgary. Same age as Grant, probably comes cheap.

The West will be very competitive this year. Veteran QB’s everywhere but Calgary. Good RB’s in every city. VG top 2 REC’s in every city. Good kickers in every city. BC has the best overall D, Betts or no Betts. :grinning:

I had thought of Winnipeg as well if they don’t re-sign Grant. If they can get Grant and fit him under the salary cap I would prefer him over Worthy, but the latter is not a terrible substitute.

Worthy has been the more active receiver between the two. And that’s a bonus on game day.

When you can stick him in and run the DB ragged while a receiver gets his breath back.

I haven’t followed how much Worthy plays receiver so I’ll take your word for it. Grant doesn’t play much receiver, or at least he hasn’t since he started being frequently injured.

I like Grant, however as the far superior and more dangerous returner. His highlight reel return this year will still be in the top 10 returns of all time 50 years from now.

Worthy has proven himself to be a great kick returner - I don’t believe he will be without a new home for long - but where?

Maiers is a veteran in Calgary now.

True what you say, but barring injuries the least of the Bomber’s worries is at receiver, where they have an embarrassment of riches. Historically under O’Shea they don’t use their kick returners as receivers very much, so even if Worthy replaces Grant I doubt he will see much action as a receiver. They have used Grant frequently for running plays and I think he is faster than Worthy, so that is another reason I would prefer him. He is also equally proficient at returning punts and kickoffs.

Nevertheless, as I said, if they choose to depart from Grant, they could do worse than signing Worthy. It’s also possible that the Bombers might be leery of Grant’s recent injury history.

But as important at times is making the most of your roster numbers. It’s why place kicker/punters are so valuable, it frees a roster spot for another player.

Sure, but they’re not going to sign both Grant and Worthy. There’s nothing wrong with Grant’s ability as a receiver, I’m just thinking that the Bombers tend to not use their returners as receivers very much, so even if Worthy is a better receiver, that’s probably not that important to the Bomber’s normal game plan and they would favour the better runner/returner.

I have no idea what the ask by both players would be. If I remember correctly Grant made about $100,000 last year. It’s also possible either or both might retire like The Stove did today.
