Alouettes 2024 talk

I repeat, this is a defence that just makes you not score points. You can keep all the flashy D categories. We don’t lead in sacks or TFL and we don’t neuter running backs. What we do accomplish is to make sure you ain’t got enough points at the end of the game.

Et c’était quoi cette décision des arbitres et du bureau de commande de Toronto suite à l’échappé de J. Tuck, recouvert par les Alouettes….c’etait du n’importe quoi.

Une décision injustifiée de la ligue contre les Alouettes….

Wishing Caleb Evans a speedy recovery but that leg injury did not look good. Hopefully it’s not an ACL tear or anything like that. :frowning:

Edit: What’s Dom Davis doing these days? Assuming Evans is out for a lengthy period of time, we’ll need a guy to do QB sneaks, and Davis Alexander hasn’t exactly excelled in that role recently. Unless they want to do direct snaps to Antwi or STE or Dallaire as some teams (BC and I think Hamilton) tend to do.

Edit 2: Letcher is having a great season returning punts. No, he hasn’t broken one to the house, but he leads the league in punt-return yardage and always seems to get good positive yardage when we need it.

With Cody out, I wanted us to go at least .500 in the middle 6 games of the season. So far, we’re batting a thousand at 2-0. Can’t argue with the results.

Let’s hope Calgary can do us a favour tomorrow and beat Toronto. We’re currently the frontrunner to win the division but nothing is guaranteed and there’s still 10 games of regular season left.

And the Riders to beat the RBs next week.

Dom dressed for all 18 games for BC last season, averaging 2.06 yards per carry … wonder if he would be interested.

Alexander is clearly not suited to the “short-yardage” role … neither is Morgan based on what I recall from the pre-season.

Of course the possible “issue” with Davis is whether DM and JM would be comfortable with him as the 3rd QB beyond short-yardage.

I’ve often wondered about using a non-QB for sneaks, even on a regular snap rather than a direct snap … although the “direct snap” seems to offer possibilities in that the player can get a bit of a running start … might need a “shadow” behind them in case a snap is messed-up, which also might offer up some misdirection options for a “direct snap” alternative.

Ideally he’d be doing sneaks and nothing else barring catastrophic injury circumstances. Just an injury fill-in for the season and then we re-evaluate next year.

I don’t mind the direct snaps, except that I don’t think our RBs or fullbacks are really suited to it. Dallaire is more of a tight end body type.

Wonder what kind of hands our DL, or Sankey, have? :slightly_smiling_face:

Remember Ryan Bomben, the OL who could catch passes as a tight end?

Yup … some of those BIG guys are athletes too.

David Dallaire was doing the QB sneak with the Rouge et Or so that’s a possibility

I fear he may have “ticked off” the arbitrator by changing representation right before the original hearing date and forcing a re-scheduling … hence the suspension being “re-activated”.

I see that as of Aug. 01, we extended Richards, Stubblefield, and Snead on the 6-game. Stubbs being extended isn’t a surprise (his season’s over), and neither is Richards, sadly, given his injury history, but it’s disappointing to see Snead back on the shelf for another 6 games. I’m hoping it’s more “stash him on the 6-game because all our American receivers are playing well” rather than him legitimately needing more time to recover from his injury.

Or letting him get to the proverbial 110% before taking him off; slight variation on “stashing” a healthy player.

The issue right now is who would come off the roster to make room for Snead. I just can’t see Spieker, Rambo, or White sitting to make room for Tyler right now.

Letcher maybe.

Maybe … but then who returns kicks? Not great to have to expose starters to the risk, especially on PR.

I think that Snead can do the job. I think he is much more of an offensive weapon. Letcher lost a step.
