After the first month Edmonton was the shoe in, now its Hamilton… I remember an Edmonton team that was way more dominant than any team since and ended up getting beat in the GC.

No we won’t see another dynasty like that. SMS levels the playing field to the bottom.

I remember an Edmonton team that set, and still holds, the record for most wins in a season and didn’t even make the Grey Cup.

1989-Eskimos 16-2 upset and beaten by a crummy 9-9 Rider team led by a crummy qb named Austin who went on to upset and defeat a 12-6 Cats team and deprive them of their 2nd Cup victory in 4 yrs. Oh and I forgot to mention that that Grey Cup is considered by many to be the BEST Cup of all time. :thup: I’m a Cat fan but believe me I realize that this is the CFL where anything and everything can and usually does happen and until we do hopefully win it all this year…I’m not planning the parade just yet. but damn this Cat team so far is awesome this season. :rockin: :rockin:

The 3rd place team has always been a threat in the West. Off the top of my head the 2000 Lions , 2001 Stamps both were 3rd and ran the table and won the GC . I'm not sure when the last 3rd place East team ran the table ?

The last East place team to finish 3rd in the East and go on to win the GC was the Als in 1970.

The Als with their green , white and red jerseys covered in mud.

Things were different back then.
The west would play 16 games while the east would play 14.

Then the playoff format was the west final as a best 2 of 3 while the east final was 2 game total points.

BY the time GC came the west champ had played 3 games more than the east.
