Adam Tafralis Released

What do the Cats plan on doing when they go into camp and realize Porter is just getting worse and worse :?

You should print out this post and hand it to Porter when you seem him at training camp.

If your looking for someone to tell him he sucks I’m game
I honestly cant stand the guy.

Ticats can't seem to develop any players, no matter what the position. They need to address this or they will windup right back at the bottom of the division :frowning:

Why must “developing” be defined as hanging onto a guy forever ? Braintrust could have decided Trafalis is already all that he’s going to be and decided to turn the page and make way for someone new.

This is just one example. Justin Palardy is another, Chris Bauman… JP Bekasiak. The Ticats record in regards to player development is not good in comparison to teams like Calgary, Saskatchewan, Montreal…

This.

How anyone can take a handfull of isolated plays over a period of two years by a third string QB and can extrapolate that into a mistake in cutting him like he’s a starter in waiting is amazing.

The old saying the second string QB is the most popular player in town has truth to it but in HAM it’s the third string ?

Palardy was brought in to punt…he couldnt and still doesn’t.
Bauman was supposed to be the top CDN receiver here…was surpassed by Stala and never showed anything why he shouldnt have been then had the stones to ask for more money.
Bekasiuk was forgettable and underperforming here and long since replaced anyway.

All reasonble football decisions.
Developing players, currently, like Matt Kirk, Matt Carter, Ryan Hinds, Dyakowski, Rottier means you have to turn the page on some players to let other prospects flourish. Hanging onto guys too long is as bad as cutting them too early.

Reminds me of the Richie Williams “campaign”.

Sounds as if they may have done him a favour by allowing him to go elsewhere where he might have a better opportunity. Hope he gets his chance and does well. Wished it were here, but Glenn and Porter are the clear 1 and 2 QBs.

Yes. well done, Cap, and a lot more examples than just him.

Must be a living hell for some TC fans who cant trust the management of this team in something so basic and fundamental as the accurate asessment of a third string QB.

Adam was no Third Stringer They where paying Porter Starter Money
He had to be #2
Adam was never given fair shake
AS for TElling Porter I don’t like Him as a QB
I think He knows already

Plus why do keep a guy who Bitching to his local paper about his playing time.
I don’t think be going to as Camp days or many Practices this year.
I Don’t have the time as I am Coaching .
Plus Drew Dose a great job of keep everyone uptodate

It my Option and I am in Titled to it
It up to him to prove to Everyone who Don’t think he is good QB Wrong

So Mr Porter Prove it …

This is a bit of a surprise, although I am interested in seeing what Boltus can do.

Some things just aren`t meant to be no matter how much campaigning goes on for them. I'm grateful the team provides us with this chatroom for discussions such as this. I'm quite sure we are not the only group of fans who discuss things like backup quarterbacks. If this discussion wasn't allowed what would be the point of the chatroom. Next to nobody would post here. It would be a living hell to have a chatroom with only yourself to talk to.

I may not agree with all of mr. zontars actions but you have to admit, this is a sound post. People rag on Porter saying hes only had a few good games so we should cut him, but people say bauman has had a few good games so we should of kept him. Im not even a huge Porter fan but look at the comparison…you can’t say Bauman has shown more potential then porter but yet we try to run Porter out of town at the same time lamenting the departure of Bauman when we have canadian depth at reciever. It wouldnt surprise me to see Matt Carter have a break out campaign this season.

It is faulty thinking lumping everyone together. Some people think Tafralis was better than Porter, that doesn't mean they think Bauman should have been re-signed. It's like implying everyone here is negative or that no one trusts Obie's decisions. The TiCats provide this forum for football discussion.

true enough, lol…but don’t lump me in with a certain group of people either. I understand why you felt the need to remind that the Ti-cats provide this forum for football discussion…I see the haters on here all the time, but you don’t need to remind me. No where did I say that everyone who isn’t a porter fan is a bauman fan…Im just saying there ARE people on here who will bash on porter all day long for only having a couple good games but will support bauman for showing about the same if not less potential…Id just rather not point out the names…Im not trying to call anyone out. Pointing out a conflict isn’t bashing someone, unless it becomes obsessive…so don’t criticize me saying Im lumping people together and having an opinion, remember, the Ti-cats provide this forum for football discussion. lol

Seriously though, didn’t mean to offend anyone

upon further review, I do see how my porter/bauman post could be misunderstood.....my bad

No worries. I didn't mean to lump you into any group and apologize if that is how it came across. Some people here try to dictate which subjects can get discussed - you will figure out who they are soon enough. It's like they think they run the chatroom or something.

I like Quinton Porter, I think he's a pretty good quarterback and I look forward to good things from him. he was not ready to be the starter when he was given that role, and I have no idea if he ever will be, but I think he's a pretty good #2. Adam Tafralis I saw too little of to make any comment or have an opinion. But Iwish him well and hope he can ply his trade elsewhere in the CFL.

I liked Baumann too, I thought he played quite well later last season, showing some of the potential that was hoped for earlier. I was rooting for him. This happened after a lengthy period where he seemed to have lost his own confidence as well as that of his QBs and coaches. It may be one of those cases where a change of scene will do him good. Did he deserve more money? Not in my view. Will he earn it elsewhere? Who knows. I hope for his sake he can do that.

I do have a tendency to trust management and coaching decisions, because they know far more about the players, their skills, contributions, attitude and dedication than I ever will. Not to mention the big picture implications of decisions made. That doesn't mean I don't have opinions... I expressed a couple above. Some may agree with me, some may disagree. That's all good.

I'm not much for the hate mail kind of stuff I see here sometimes, but I figure it does far more discredit to the poster than any harm it causes to the target. I look on it as a sign of insecurity. Even those who indulge in it from time to time have some good insights about football matters. I really don't enjoy the "nuff said", "end of story" sorts of posts that take the view that the poster is right, no matter what, and all other views are clearly wrong..... just because.

Wise words, stevehvh.
