AC takes leave of absence from the Als

Brief story on TSN site. Anthony Calvillo takes leave of absence to with his wife who is having health problems. Hope everything works out ok for him and his family.

Might have implications in the Als playoff bid.

A quote from ‘Als Popp Showing Strain’

HERB ZURKOWSKY , The Gazette

Monday, October 22, 2007

at halftime of a game at Saskatchewan - a game Montreal was losing 19-4 after 30 minutes - Popp told his players they were making him look bad.

Even the normally-reserved Anthony Calvillo,
a player who displays little emotion,
had to contain himself.

Hmmm…I wonder if this made it easier
for A.C. to make this decision.

Big trouble is brewing in Montreal.

EDIT: Thursday Oct 25

At the time I posted this I didn’t
read the whole TSN article.

My apologies to A.C.

I hope your family successfully
gets through this difficult time

and great times are ahead for you.

Should make it easier for Winnipeg to hold unto first place, if Argos don’t win in Saskatchewan.
Hope things work out ok for Anthony and family.

That's too bad. I hope it's not serious.

If AC misses the playoffs, the Als will be alright. They have Jason Maas to lead them straight to the Grey Cup with his strong arm!

I hope Everything is okay

All our prayers for AC,his wife and children. I hope everything will be fine.

Oh no! They have to rely on Maas now!LMAO I feel real bad for montreal now!

Our prayers and best wishes to Anthony Calvillo and his family. This certainly puts football in its rightful place. Nothing matters more than family and health. A. C. is a very classy guy, who has already overcome a great deal to be the excellent leader he has become. Good health and happiness to him and his wife and children.

AC has my thoughts behind him.

My prayers for AC, his wife, and daughter. The Game is only a game. These are people who need our prayers and support at this time.

Can you imagine, just as you have a daughter, this happens to your wife?

Lifter

If Mon loses the next two and Edm wins them, Montreal is out!

Personally, I wish AC the best and hope that things work out for him.

As for the Als, with Maas at the helm they most certainly will wallow, again making good the phrase "Argos Uck! Als Wallow!"
(patent pending...)
PS
Caretaker: I haven't received my cheque yet for the creative solution to the forbidden chant...

Sorry to hear that...hopefully everything will work out for him and his family...

Best wishes to AC and his family.

Oski Wee Wee,

I hope everything works out for him and his family, but I am kind of looking forward to seeing mass play.

So is Calgary.

An Argo-Cat fan

Wow, that really stinks. My thoughts and prayer's are with AC and his family.

I'm actually shocked to see a couple people are more concerned what will happen to the Als...it is life threatening to his wife and you are talking about football. They just had another child. All football aside this is tragic news for AC and his family. I hope I can speak for the majority of Rider AND Cfl fans everywhere when I say I pray that AC's wife gets through this perfectly and first and foremost they can be a healthy family again. Football is completely secondary when it comes to something like this. I'm ashamed for the select few people that put football first..disgusting.

I don’t know if this has been posted, but Alexis has been diagnosed with B-Cell Lymphoma.

AC appears to be optimistic and I sincerely hope for the best for both of them during this terribly difficult time. There is a link at the bottom of the article to send your best wishes to AC via the Als website.
