Montreal Alouettes quarterback Anthony Calvillo will not play again this year, Sportsnet.ca has learned. The Als have transferred Calvillo to the injured list through to November 26, one day after the Grey Cup.

This means Calvillo won’t be eligible to play again this season

Nothing surprising here.

For sure. I wish the family all the best, and this is the right decision.

Absolutely no question.

What a roller coaster of a ride. First the elation of a new baby and then this. For those interested, the Als web site has a link that will allow you the opportunity to pass your thoughts onto the family.

The right thing to do on AC's part. His wife and family are the ones who need him the most.

Not only is he a great athelete but an even better man.

All the best to AC and his family.

Tough situation, but I hope for all the best for his wife and his family.

Good for AC. As bad as cancer is, it's uplifting to hear the prognosis or getting rid of it is good for her.

This puts football into its proper perspective.
We all wish AC and Alexia the best, as well as their new child.

AC is a class guy on the field, and this affirms his class as a person off the field.

Time for all football fans to step up and donate time and cash to a cancer research organization near you.

Godspeed.

...Family is paramount....Anthony is definitely doing the right thing in leaving football to be at his wifes side...I hope that this situation turns positive for Anthony Calvillo and his wife,Alexia....and that she gets well soon..

I would expect the Als would give Calvillo full salary while he is taking this leave.

They are obligated to, but I would like to think that the Als would be decent enough to give it to him anyway even if they were not.

Best wishes to the Calvillo family, hopefully everything turns out for the best for them.
