I have to admit
My little jig would have been more enthusiastic...
If AC had left when the succession was set
Instead of bailing on the Alouettes
And leaving the team in the lurch
RDS -Matthieu Proulx- has confirmed that Anthony has been added/transferred to the 9 game injured list. There are 9 regular season games remaining, meaning that Anthony may not play in another regular game this season; I do know that the Als could always activate Anthony before the end of the 9 games, but I doubt that the Als/Jim Popp would have added Anthony to the 9 game injured list if he thought that he could come back this season.
Unfortunate to end the season/career this way, but life/sport is cruel, sometime.
Couldn’t agree with you more MadJack! You can be critical of his football play (and there has been no expense on that front by this poster) but of his health and a concussion… unbelievable.
Very sad news, and certainly not the way anyone wanted Anthony's season to go. I hope he makes a full recovery in time to be around for the playoffs. Don't forget that the team can always exercise its option and bring one player off the LTIR early per half-season.
FU Senior! What kind of little man are yous to hate Calvillo that much! Jealous, because you FAILED as a tight end?!
Calvillo has made tons of money, has 3 Grey Cup rings, has a ton of records, was MOP 3 times, and is admired as a great player and great human being. He is one of Montreal’s great sporting legends.
What do you got Senior? Keep pounding your McPherson blow up doll and keep fantasizing that you were the next Nick Arakgi!!!
I have seen NO EVIDENCE he suffered anything of the sort
The hit was soft
The timing was odd
And the body language is…not convincing
To say the least
So keep your riteous indignation
AC is doing EXACTLY what I predicted so long ago:
BAILING on the team that made him
Once the obvious fact that he couldn’t play anymore
Penetrated that ego Oh…that ego
I invite ALL and ANY criticism
By the irrational Calvillo moaners
Who are…to be fair…only in the 1st stages of withdrawl Love is an unforgiving B***H
I make NO APOLOGIES
To a man who’s selfishness has entirely bereft this team of a plan of succession
And who takes the 1st opportunity to leave
Once his playing has become a PERMANENT embarrassment
And he’s chased off any REAL competition
Oh sure…I’m pleased with the Marsh phenomenon That it’s lasted as long as it has is a credit to the kid…and the reawakening of hope on the ENTIRE TEAM
But I have to doubt Tanner Marsh will be AC’s successor
It would be fun
But I don’t see the kid having that level of talent…frankly.
I’m glad the Alouettes picked up Troy Smith
But I’m 80% certain AC would still be taking snaps
If Popp hadn’t made THAT move
I KNOW it in my gut
Compare THIS present chain of events to the various plans ALL OF US were cooking up to get McPherson degrees of increased participation in the offence…leading to the inevitable.
THIS is CRIMINAL
Troy Smith is fine…
But as a serious plan of succession? More like psycho-dominos
Not convinced
I know you love to ignore the facts, but here they are.

So, in other words, you're basing it on nothing more than a hunch, and tossing aside all the evidence that's been presented in front of you. I mean, that's typical of you, but I thought I'd just clarify for you, as it very rarely happens (check that, never) that you realize your own idiocy.

No one wants your apologies. You're not a fan of the Alouettes. You're a hater. You hate on the franchise's best player. You hate on the man who won us 3 Grey Cups. So like others have said, why not just go watch the AFL, where your lover McPherson is playing, and leave us alone, so we can actually cheer for our team, and not have to endure your constant berating of the Alouettes and their players?
Oh sure...I'm pleased with the Marsh phenomenon

Case and point. All you do is berate and put down the team, never providing solutions, only ever throwing out insults at “missed opportunities.” Get out. Just leave. Please. For everyone’s sake.
For once I’d like someone who is so outrageous in their comments to make such slanderous remarks with their real name and contact details attached and see how much it costs them.
Gentlemen..
Let's lay off on the Witch hunts and enjoy what we have going on with our team for the moment.
A new beginning
A new chance
....and something to cheer for the rest of the season (finally).
Let the the natural progressions take effect for this team into the off season, and leave the best man standing.
Hey, I’m very excited that the Alouettes are winning again. I have no doubt that everyone on here is, barring one, maybe two individuals. I was smiling ear to ear when the Alouettes won, and I’m excited for the rematch, because winning this upcoming game against Toronto would be HUGE.
But I can’t ignore the obnoxious and patronizing things posted by Senior. To be happy that Calvillo, not only one of the greatest players of the franchise, but one of the greatest players in the league, is out with a concussion is sickening and sadistic. And there’s no reason why something like that should be let off the hook.
Senior there is a protocol now for players who are concussed, so the majority of the decision making if or if not you are going to play is taken away from the person suffering the symptoms. AC could and I think would react that he might be OK to go, but if he doesn't make the protocol cut, light sensitivity, able to drive in a vehicle without feeling nauseated, can't read for more that 10 minutes, and the desire to sleep 15 hours a day, can't focus on a video screen, etc. you are going on the nine day even if you don't want to. I think you have crossed the line from being an unhappy ALs fan to character assassination. No room for a guy like that on my team!
Quel as!
I never thought he was faking, nor did I question his willingness to return.. concussions are no joke, and not something you can "play through" like some other injuries where it comes down to your pain threshold.
I wish him a complete & speedy recovery, I definitely NOT happy to see him hurt like this.
Human factor aside, and purely from a football perspective, I am indeed happy that we are moving on to Marsh.. and maybe Smith as the weeks go by.
From a short term perspective, we were losing, Calvillo wasn't producing and his body language and overall leadership was not good. The change has breathed life into the team, and while Marsh is very green and makes plenty of mistakes.. he's giving the team a better chance to win now and maybe make this a decent season after all. (As I say this, and I do believe it.. I do concede that given the coaching change & return of Whitaker & others that happened during the QB switch, it's harder to pinpoint what proportion each of these changes has had on the Als new winning ways. I still think Marsh is a key component to why our offense is at least moving the ball again.)
From a medium/long-term perspective, it allows us to find out more about the potential QB's we're going to have to protect (and leave exposed) at the expansion draft. This is a decision that can have decade-long consequences, we cannot afford to get it wrong.. just so we our once-great vet can eke out one more year, and get his 80k yards.
In a perfect world (for me), AC gets healthy but never regains #1 status.. comes back in, in a few games and gets his 80k that way, then settles in to a QB coach position next season... as Berry moves over to head coach, Miller to OC.
Okay I confess I was the first to react to his offensive post, and for that I do apologize; as you suggest I should just ignore the as*hole.
But that post was truly offensive. And then to try to justify it by saying he’s seen no “evidence” of AC having suffered a concussion (like he expects to be privy to the doctors’ reports), . . . well, words fail me.
A new low?
Like insinuating I’m happy someone is injured? When I NEVER said anything of the sort.
I AM happy however…that Calvillo is not our starting quarterback.
Considering HIS record to date and the remarkable turnaround under Tanner Marsh
I’d say I’m Delerious with Joy
I AM an Als fan…after all.
If Calvillo IS faking…no doubt he’ll continue to do so…and ride into the sunset Unless he hops back on board at the right moment…always a possibility
If he actually HAS a concussion…I wish him well
Hope he retires for EVERYONE’s sake
WTH does his passing record have to do with anything?
