According to MB on the Tiger-Cats show this past Monday, they worked out Calgary Dino's K/P Aaron Ifield earlier in the year and he's made it to their neg. list.Seems like an impressive kicker to me.
I understand what you’re saying,CFinO, . But, it was – listen to wind catching the microphone and note his long shots flappin’ in the breeze.
Cobnsidering the $$$$, the savings, and what might be done with them, I think I’d be ready to go with the best in CIS history over the “greatest in CFL history.”
I suspect from the that he got my intent. And then went on to imply, without actually saying it, that if this kid can do it, why can’t our “greatest in CFL history” guy? And then he suggested that maybe we should be looking to make our guy history, and replace him with this less expensive kid.
8) The Cats would have been much better off just by keeping Justin Palardy to kick field goals for us.
Wilbur the punting, and Palardy the field goals.
Palardy would have been making half the salary that Sandro is getting, and from what I have seen lately, Palardy is
a more reliable field goal kicker !! <!-- s:thup: -->:thup:<!-- s:thup: -->
No doubt about it, Tipper. We gave up too soon on Justin Palardy. Bellefeuille won’t even let DeAngelis attempt
field goals in excess of 45 yards. Pros on this level should be able to kick 55 to 60 yarders as we used to see from
the likes of Ozzie, Bernie Rouoff and several others formerly in the CFL.
As far as I’m concerned, it’s not the range, it’s the accuracy. Give me a kicker who is stone cold deadly inside the 40 any day over a bionic kicker. Simply put, I want an offense to have to work the ball into position and know it’s basically a lock as opposed to one that “settles” for that long-distance feeling and gets shafted in the clutch.
Talking about massive FGs, it's the 40th anniversary of Tom Dempsey's 63-yard FG that stood as the pro football record until Jason Elam kicked one to tie Dempsey in 1998.
