A good read

I think this is a pretty good article:

What is an even better read is all the crazies that comment on the article.

Isn’t that what you just did?

I think it is shocking that after using 9 quarterbacks this year. Anyone would think that something magical will happen next year.

well by then... the offense will have Kelly's complicated playbook down pat

Come on, guys. Let's try to leave intelligent comments.

I agree with HfxTC... I think Winnipeg is in for some rough seasons. The defence is good, but the offence needs work, starting at QB. They can't bring Michael Bishop back. That shouldn't even be an option. The guy will give you a few good games, but he'll also give you some incredibly bad games, and usually his bad games come at the worst possible time.

Personally, I'd like to see Winnipeg develop a young QB. It might take a couple seasons before the benefits are seen, but it beats bringing back the INT machine. Next they need a couple receivers. The Winnipeg fans can correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks to me like Kelly did a number on their receiving corps. The only guy I can think of off the top of my head if Terrance Edwards, and he apparently isn't too happy.

Not true. From Tuesday's FP:

Bombers veteran receiver Terrence Edwards believes firing Kelly at this point would be a mistake and that most of the growing pains are behind this group of players and coaches.

"I'll put our roster up against anyone. I feel we have the talent in this room to get things done. You can't say any other team is better when it comes to talent. They've just played together longer. If we can have a training camp with no distractions and just come in with a clean slate and get focused from Game 1, I think we can be a team to be reckoned with," said Edwards.

"The coaching staff will be a year older and I think coach Kelly will be a way better head coach next year. He learned a lot this year. I think the people of Winnipeg should give him a chance. I think he's the right guy for this job. He's a passionate coach and that's what you want in a head coach. A guy who is going to bite the bullet for you and is willing to stick his neck out for you, and he did a lot of that this year."

Well, that's good news for the Bombers.

I wouldnt mind picking up your former reciever in Kelly Campbell this off season... we all know Mike's tendencies to bring over ex eskimos so we just might see him here...

He and Terrence Edwards as our 1-2 options would be pretty decent IMO... along with the good but inconsistent Adarius Bowman and Titus Ryan would make a pretty decent recieving corps.

Kelly Campbell has just signed a 3+1 deal with Edmonton.

ah, boo! ha ha guess i should have done my research, oops

Now this is from Ed Tait's column today (http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports ... 35812.html), and it is a quote from Bauer; glad to see that Bauer realizes what is needed here; I could not agree more:

"The board certainly recognizes our head coach needs some assistance in media and public relations. That is without a doubt. There's no question there. From the onset, lines were drawn in certain camps when he made the statement he was going to control the message. I'm not going to get into that, but that didn't help him in any shape or form when it came to media relations. There are some bridges that have to be rebuilt. The passion he has is admirable and something you want, but you also have to learn that just because somebody pokes a sharp stick through the fence at you, you don't always have to react. That's part of being a professional."

That's news to me... better hit TSN.

i cant find a like, you got one?

Put Matsakis permanently in charge of the offense. Kelly's involvement should be minimal.

Re-sign Bishop to a two-year deal and platoon him with Santos as the experienced vet / heir apparent combo.

Acquire one more solid receiver.

And maybe, just maybe, the Bombers will turn the corner next season.

I found an article that said he signed with the Esks but didn't show up so the Esks have suspended him:

Hugh Campbell is available I understand, and word is he is in game shape

bombers shouldmake a trade, if he actually doesnt intend on returning to the esks, maybe they will give him to us for cheap!
