A Bold Prediction

In moderate defense of Crandell and Tillman (I was uncertain about Crandell at the beginning, but willing to give him a shot) a story in today's LeaderPost addresses this issue. Basically, it says that the change in QBs was made necessary because of the injury to the receivers, and the change in style they needed to adopt. Tillman is quoted as saying, "If they [the receivers] were healthy, this almost certainly doesn't happen."

Now, whether you agree with Tillman or think he's just trying to cover up for his mistakes is a whole other issue, but I do agree that injuries can change the style of game that you play, and this may have impacted Crandell's performance and the 'Rider's decision.

Just thought I'd throw that out there. Here's the link for the story - hopefully it works as such. If not, the second link should get you to their sports page. It was the first story on the page - "Miller makes it official: Crandell cut, Riders move on"

Thanks for the links. Well as a fan I'd rather see my GM admit to a mistake and correct then deny it with arrogance. In my opinion he is admitting to a mistake, but I guess it's not so big since his team is 6-2. What I like is that he didn't stand pat, he was progressive and I assume rider fans must be pleased with that.

Greenandwhite your basically right the riders have become one dimensional in offense with Crandell in there no doubt about it. Defenses are keying on the running game where as before the option to throw there was a good chance for a catch is not there now. Also having a scrabbling qb would make it a bit easier. But Tillman needs to just come out and say this versus I tried very hard to find a trade for Crandell. It should have been a simple he no longer fits in our plans. Truly no one is in the market for Crandell for trade when they knew he would be available for free once released. Honesty is the best way to go. But G&W you are right.

So much for the bold prediction.. the Lions are 4-5, so no 4-way for first after next week.

I’ll make a bold prediction. The Lions will be in last place in the West after this weekend. And next!!

It looks like the Riders and Esks will fight for first while the inconsistent Calgary and B.C. battle to see who goes to die in T.O.

I see that before the long weekend is over their will be alot of people eating crow. I am already at table #4. I was lucky I got the wing.

What makes you think the game will be in Toronto?

talk about way out in left field lol, Montreal is the team to beat in the east and Calgary going last with B.C. i still think besides the Riders Calgary is a very tough team it will be the Riders or Stamps that come out of the west
