Envious of what? You falling numbers in a year you improved on the field? You should be deeply worried, you do not have a deep pocketed organization owning the riders. With falling numbers, how is the that stadium (BTW not near as great as rider nation boast) being paid for ? It needs user fees. NOT A THING TO BE ENVIOUS OF
The product was better in 2024 but rider nation eas frustrated with the previous two years, rising costs of living etc. Riders organization also made some bad moves, pissed off fans, and they voted with their wallet so to speak. Iām a good example, I let my season tickets go. Iāve got Bette things to do than spend 10 hours going to a game when the team sucks and the coach keeps talking bullshit fixes (Dickinson).
In 2024 the turn around, and coach Mace, did a lot to win back the fans. This year attendance will be up. Maybe not to pre Covid levels but itāll be up. Attendance ebs and flows with success. Winnipeg being a great example. There attendance wasnāt as good 6-8 years ago as it is now. And if they suck this year their attendance will still be good. It take a year or two to adjust.
Itās different in Calgary. Attendance just sucks like the facility.
Iām not sure the exact stats on attendance but Iām quite sure riders were second next to Winnipeg.
BC has had a few larger games at season opening when they bring in a big act but tons of the fans are gone by halftime.
I love a good bc game. I come out about every other year to see the riders play you guys. I should quit doing it though my riders always seem to lose when I make the trip
So let me get this straight, In Regina the Attendance was down due to cost of living etc and poor rider play. But these arenāt factors in Calgary? We havenāt been playing well and the cost of living is higher here than Regina, but the answer here is simply "attendance sucks like the stadium. (Mod edit) FYI a true fan doesnāt abandon their team
There are over one million fans to draw from in Cowtown alone⦠riders must draw from the entire province. Hard times indeed make fans harder to want to spend their cash at a game . Plus, add in the cost of beer and even pop and somewhat poor food choices and for rediculously hight cost for
Fact is the entire league save for the Bombers are having issues filling the stadiums. Especially cow town with the ancient facility they have for the fans and also the players.
All that needs to happen to the bombers is a few bad seasons and fans will think twice there too.
As for your statement about true fans not leaving a team⦠cowtown has seen many years sinse they could say they had lots of fans in the stands.
No thatās not my point. Your attendance sucked before your team did.
I didnāt abandon. Iāve never missed watching in years. I just let my season tickets go. If that means Iām not a real fan to you I donāt care.
Do you have season tickets in Calgary? Do you go to every game then? Is it a 6 hour round trip when you go?
Yes, true fans do not abandon their team, that is true of ABC, or any fan, including Stamp fans so not sure your point on that.
Yes Calgary is a much larger city, but there are more choices of things to do. Ridergames have been THE destination for summertime fun, with many places to view and many drink/food choices(or i Iāve been told) , you also have boasted about having the best fans in the league, something Stamp fans have never claimed on mass. And why do you all make it seem like Calgary is the biggest issue? Stamps average is middle of pack #5 at 21,541 average. Of the 4 teams worse, 3 made playoffs, so not sure why you choose to make Calgary the punching bag for everything thatās bad about the CFL.
Same thing happened at the last Grey Cup that Saskatchewan hosted. You most likely werenāt there but some have suggested that they were wandering around the concourse.
If Saskatchewan can say that then BC can say it too. The difference though is that the B.C. concert was pre-game. If a ton of fans is 2k and tons of fans is +4k then thatās acceptable when the attendance is over 50k.
I just caught up on posts made in the last day including about 9 new ones in this thread. For sure I thought this thread was about Calgary vs Saskatchewan as far as attendance and stadiums and just overall goodness goes. I checked the thread title and it was about BC so Iām not sure what happened. The last post was the first one in a while to even mention BC.
No major harm, but can we stay on topic please? There are other threads that can be utilized for Calgary vs Saskatchewan discussions.
Itās simple. Calgary is my most disliked team and you like to bash the riders so I respond. Or I bash the stamps and you respond. Itās what we do.
Sorry Jon, read your post after making my last response. Iāll behave now
BC will be a much-improved team.
Of that, there can be no doubt.
EDMONTON, the possibility of the new GM being too much of the wrong personality in charge for the team that intangible team cohesion and comradery.
SASKATCHEWAN looks to be better, too, but who knows? Wishful thinking on my part somewhat here. Did they improve enough to be better in the West final than they have in recent years⦠I donāt think so.
BOMBERS doing much to shore up but wow ya gotta wonder where they will end up.
STAMPEDERS. A team seldom goes from last place and struggljng big time to a contender in one off season.
But most certainly BC fans will have much to see that will look good
What is it that makes you assume this?
QB will improve from what he showed us from his poor showing since coming back.
The team is quietly getting good talent to improve the team.
To be fair some players were dropping balls at poor times. The one where Stanback juggled the ball and it turned into an interception comes to mind. Hopefully off-season bonding and training camp help Rourke out this time around.
Look what you did ABC!
I know. Us hillbilly Saskies canāt read dem rools to good
Canāt be a hillbilly if there isnāt any hills
