The Argo DL has been dominant for a few years now. They often rotate up to 8 on DL. This is just further proof that losing Hendrix last year means nothing with a young Brinkman available. Getting Ceresna via trade & Holley as a rookie is just crazy good. And Robbie Smith has been impressive from the get go, making a name for himself in the Argos 2022 GC as a rookie.
Not sure about Patterson. As a QB that will depend on where he lands & how much starting time he gets.
Jerreth Sterns is interesting, only because the scouting report states he can block well for his size. However, small speedy slotbacks in the CFL are plentiful.
Totally disagree with DPop13. Patterson didn’t look bad in his first starts in the CFL and first real action period. Will he have a breakout year, who knows and I know you don’t from what limited time you have seen him play. As for Stern, the point is he isn’t just another slot receiver. The guy won the triple crown in NCAAF and 150 catches is 14 games. He has great hands, but the big draw is he knows how to get open for his QB. So go crawl back in your bitter hole if you don’t have something insightful.
Not a Shea Patterson fan. Also a head scratcher why is he the third and short guy. Riders get stuffed on 3rd and short more than any other team in the league. With the money Ouellette is making and built like an ox he should be the guy in those situations
2023 Harris goes down Dolegala and Fine do not win a game Riders miss playoffs. 2024 Harris goes down Patterson gets 2 wins and a tie to keep Riders alive with a injured team. The only qb on Saskatchewan Roster to beat Winnipeg and Toronto in 2024.
With all due respect Dolegala won 2 games in 2023, and Fine won 1.
Of the games he started in 2024 Patterson’s win-loss-tie record was 2-4-1, but he also secured our Week 3 win over Hamilton (36-20) when Harris went down in the 1st half.
Hope he does well wherever he lands this season.
Saskatchewan has a reputation for losing young QB’s. The kid was PFF leader in 3 weeks in CFL. Went 2-3-1 tie should have been a win game was stolen. Maier will be needed as Harris has played 1/2 games in 2 years. Insee another Fajardo decision. Should have brought in Maier kept Patterson and Coan….Harris ceiling has been hit . Time will tell. Harris and Oulette give sask the slowest backfield in league. Harris never beat Winnioeg either….Pqtterson beat Winnipeg and Toronto. Bad nove
Personally I’m not convinced Harris’ ceiling has been reached, not after the numbers he put up last year. And according to Harris this upcoming season will be the first time he’s ever played 2 consecutive seasons under the same OC, so there’s reason to think he’ll do even better.
The catch of course will be him staying healthy, which I hope he can… I really don’t want to watch Maier struggle with Mueller’s offense like he did in ’23.
Betting on a 40 year old who has played 1/2 the games in two years and cannot beat Winnipeg is how big Hotels are built in Las Vegas. Maier will be QB1 if anything like last two years play out. Going back with same QB and RB that were injured most of year does not seem wise. Also the lack of athleticism in backfield I am not optimistic.
Riderville always over-inflates their talent assessment of the current Riders before they kick them in the butt as they leave town.
NFL.Com Scouting Book Weaknesses for Shea Patterson:
"Small quarterback with below-average arm for drive throws. Needs play-action help to open seams. Leaves deep balls short. Ball comes out with a wobble. Short passes need more touch and less heat. Release point drops, causing issues with accuracy and placement. Consistent ball pat mechanism before throwing. Needs to get better at hitting receivers in stride. Slow to feel edge close in at times.
Riderville will run him out of town like they did Fajardo even though Fajardo is 100 X better QB than Patterson.
For the record I was pissed when the EE passed on Fajardo and the Riders signed him, glad ya all messed it up so he could move on and regain some confidence while winning a Grey Cup with the Als. Really like Fajardo will be working with Ford as he transitions into the QB Coach under Jordan Maksymic.
