49ers To Stay In Cali No Matter What

If their new home will not be Santa Clara after the municipal referendum on 8 June, apparently San Francisco, Oakland, and even LA have plans for them! And go figure even in these times with the State of California headed for bankruptcy after it goes to the Feds for a bailout (to which most of the rest of us say HELL NO!)

Interesting, a bit of similarities with what is going on here in Hamilton with the stadium location. The Bay area in San Francisco can be sort of compared with the Golden Horeshoe area here and city names throughout. Interesting.

Interesting ...rumour now is no NEW stadium in the Bay Area either from Santa Clara or in San Francisco, meaning Oakland is out of the question speaking realistically, off the owners or the new buyers would go most likely to one of two projects in LA.

Well it looks like "Santa Clara 49ers" so to speak, not literally of course, coming no sooner than 2014 but with many variables to spoil it even beyond the threat of the 2011 NFL lockout.

On that larger matter, I see Goodell as the guy who will work the extra mile to make it happen and the current head of the NFLPA, Washington DC attorney DeMaurice Smith, as the holdup guy already drawing public ire from peers including the NFL Alumni. Hardly anything good can come out of a situation when you have a Washingtonian in the mix I can tell you from beyond even my 7.5 years living there knowing something about how to deal with them and around them. They are rotten folks you cannot trust for sure like you would expect from most politicians.

Here's the latest on the situation, and those of you in Hamilton take note as well as this discussion though in the US has some similarities as any discussion of a new stadium proposal that involves public funding, infrastructure, and services (i.e. traffic planning, law enforcement, emergency services, utilities, et cetera):

Even more incentive for the 49ers to move from Candlestick Park as certainly sounds from this article like quite a dump whatever mystique it has for the locals:
(same article linked twice below with the second one the source though with problems with the page):

More of the same here with more details and still a target opening date for no sooner than the 2014 season for which construction starts likely no earlier than January 2012 after the 49ers secure the rest of the finding required next year 2011:

You have to hand it to Roger Goodell for going to speak in Oakland at halftime, amidst the tough turf of Brett Favre and the labour mess, to make the appeal to also Raider fans for one area stadium in Santa Clara:

I wonder if he was jeered or booed by that tough crowd in Oakland.

So much for the Great Recession I guess ...where is all that executive money being squandered as the rest of us are fighting for health insurance or otherwise? :?

And this is in supposedly liberal San Francisco too, but hey it's sure better than the public at large getting screwed again.

Certain rich will always be rich recession or not. During recessions it's the middle people that get the screws I would say.

Now with that violent incident for an exhibition game we have to wonder whether it makes any sense for the 49ers and Oakland to share a stadium. The security budget all the same would have to be increased substantially.

Here's a development in favour of the new stadium in Santa Clara as until recently many had thought would be considered for sharing by both teams. As long as Al Davis is around, I do not think that is going to happen either.

The stadium the 49’ers play in for a SB rich team that they have been, is a disgrace, they are playing in an old baseball stadium for crying out loud that can’t even host a Super Bowl and with the location of SF, one would think the NFL would be all over hosting a SB there. Weird. But honestly I’ve never been to SF and I hear it’s more of a true lefty socialist type town, which is fine, don’t have a problem with that at all.

I have not been to that area but for business twice, and San Jose is okay but I did not get to visit San Francisco.

Judging enough from what I have seen from folks from there and otherwise especially in the media, San Francisco is well beyond crunchy granola and nuts and fruits as are commonplace in all of California but some places inland and San Diego.

No thanks – I’ll happily spend any time travelling somewhere else without all that mess of humanity.

The stadium deal for the new place in Santa Clara is going forward at last, so one wonders whether the Raiders will join in the mix after the pleas from also Roger Goodell:

It looks like at least the 49ers will be in business in Santa Clara by 2014.
