For those who might not be aware, here's TSN's schedule of CFL pre-season games, they'll be televising:
Toronto @ Ottawa, tonight (Fri. May 27th) 7:30 on TSN 1 and TSN 5
Winnipeg @ Saskatchewan. Tuesday, May 31, 8:30 on TSN 1 and TSN 3
Ottawa @ Montreal, Friday, June 3, 7:00 on TSN
Sakatchewan @ BC, Friday June 3, 10:00 on TSN
It's too bad they didn't show Bombers vs Elks game. I would have liked to have seen Tre Ford play in his first professional game. It's not too often we get to see a Canadian QB. Looking at the stats he only completed 1of 3 passes but he carried 5 times for 47 yards. Arbuckle looked good too. He had 9 of 10 completions and 2 TDs.
Masoli, Acklin and Jackson Bennett all made significant plays in Ottawa's win, and Jalin Marshall was the Elks' top receiver, catching 6 of the 7 thrown his way for 83 yards, in their win at Winnipeg.
Doesn't matter it was pre-season. The Argos didn't attempt to challenge. It was a great throw and catch.
Ottawa has picked up some great players. They are loaded at receiver, it's gong to be tough to release some of them.
Oulette for the Argos looked pretty good too, seemed to be the only Argo player that stood out to me.
Thought so too. Preseason for refs and I don’t think they had the command centre rolling for an exhibition game. Nice play but would definitely be overturned in the regular season.
Skimmed through the game on PVR but Bennett did have a nice couple of runs. Masoli moved around and spread the ball well. Redblacks should be way better but hard to judge much based on preseason with guys in and out.
I, too, thought Acklin was O.B. but, although I can't get a clear, convincing, shot of it, I think he may have got his right toe down on the end zone turf, right at the sideline, before completing his landing with both feet clearly on the wide, white sideline.
After posting the above, I tried again to get that clear shot and did. My computer skills aren't up to providing a still shot, from this highlight video, but if you succeed, in getting it stopped at the 0:19 mark, which I just did, and/or again in the different angle view, at the 0:24 mark, you'll see what I described:
Regardless, I saw the first half of the game and if last night is any indication Ottawa could be right in the thick of things as the season progresses. The east could be an interesting division this year.
Sure we lost a couple of players but the defence is still mostly intact from last year. The DBs, LBs and interior Defensive Line looks absolutely steller. The only question mark is the Defensive end that is to replace Davis but I think Orlondo and Washington are defensive specialists so they will know who to put into Davis' spot.
The offence is being run by Dane Evans and the O-Line looks improved with Saxelid and Fontana. We have a healthy Addison with Dunbar and White in their 2nd year. Don Jackson at RB. They're going to fix the kicking for sure. I could type all day here on the improvements made.
I don't know about you but I'm already planning my parking spot for the Grey Cup parade.
