If we hadn't got the safety on the scoreboard and we were in danger of being shut out (forget '05 Mike, forget '05) then I would have kicked the fg. Under the circumstances one more throw into the end zone may have been successful.
Taffee doesn't impress me at all with this gutless
call. You GO for it. You have nothing
going for you all game plus you need more then
a stinking field goal.Show a little confidence
in the Offense. Now you have the boys
not believing in themselves.
congrats... looking forward to 1000 more, unless of course the fans turn on you overnight and we have to release you. They blew it on that 3rd down call... at home, vs. argos, new ROOKIE qb that needs prove alot... they blew it
I also thought that they were trying to give McMahon more experience, as I mentioned in the game thread. But I don’t agree with Mark Lee when he said they were doing this because they did not want make the game more one-sided.
As for trying to kick the field goal on 3rd and goal, at the time I was just relieved that the offence got some points. But it would have made sense to try to put it in the end zone, for the same reason for the aforementioned 3rd down gamble late in the game when McMahon was playing.

I second this EMOTION.
This was a real DEFLATING moment in the game.
At that stage of the game, the 3 points were MEANINGLESS, and FUTILE. It was the CLOSEST they had been to the ENDZONE all, fr-Eakin game!, and should have been USED as EMOTIONAL Leverage … totally WASTED Opportunity !! …
Even if they don’t get the 6 points, it would have been nice to put the DEFENSE on the field in the ensuing situation. Let them ‘lick their chops’ at the prospect of ‘pinning their ears back’ and goin’ after the Argo O, deep in their own zone.
