3rd and Goal. Down 25 - 2 . YOU GO FOR IT !!

I can't believe Taffee calls for a field goal, when we are on the three yard line. We do not have a touchdown in 2 games. :thdn:

Post 1000 and all I can come up with is

I agree, I mean the Argo's did GO FOR IT on 3rd down after all

This was a tough call, i agree with Joe.

well wats with the argos going for it on third down with 4 minutes to go and they are up by 20

i mean could they rub it in anymore?

if by It, you mean TD, no they didnt. What they were doing is giving McMahon more plays. I didnt see them try one pass to the endzone.

I was thinking the same thing. It’s a good thing we made things respectable with that field goal, because 30-2 would have been really embarassing.

If we hadn't got the safety on the scoreboard and we were in danger of being shut out (forget '05 Mike, forget '05) then I would have kicked the fg. Under the circumstances one more throw into the end zone may have been successful.

I did… even Walby was complaining for the O-Line about having to pass protect

yes. They probably could have scored the TD if they really wanted too.

Taffee doesn't impress me at all with this gutless
call. You GO for it. You have nothing
going for you all game plus you need more then
a stinking field goal.Show a little confidence
in the Offense. Now you have the boys
not believing in themselves.

I hope that portion of your post was sarcasm.

One field goal with no other offensive points is not any more embarssing than no field goals with no other offensive points.

[sarcasm] [/sarcasm]

congrats... looking forward to 1000 more, unless of course the fans turn on you overnight and we have to release you. They blew it on that 3rd down call... at home, vs. argos, new ROOKIE qb that needs prove alot... they blew it

I also thought that they were trying to give McMahon more experience, as I mentioned in the game thread. But I don’t agree with Mark Lee when he said they were doing this because they did not want make the game more one-sided.

As for trying to kick the field goal on 3rd and goal, at the time I was just relieved that the offence got some points. But it would have made sense to try to put it in the end zone, for the same reason for the aforementioned 3rd down gamble late in the game when McMahon was playing.

you saw them pass the ball, you did not see them pass to the endzone.

Totally agree.

We certainly let Charlie know that it was the wrong decision.

You would think they would go for it just to boost what is left of the shattered team morale!!!

Taffee doesn't impress me at all with this gutless call. You GO for it. You have nothing going for you all game plus you need more then a stinking field goal.Show a little confidence in the Offense. Now you have the boys not believing in themselves.
I second this EMOTION.

This was a real DEFLATING moment in the game.

At that stage of the game, the 3 points were MEANINGLESS, and FUTILE. It was the CLOSEST they had been to the ENDZONE all, fr-Eakin game!, and should have been USED as EMOTIONAL Leverage … totally WASTED Opportunity !! …

Even if they don’t get the 6 points, it would have been nice to put the DEFENSE on the field in the ensuing situation. Let them ‘lick their chops’ at the prospect of ‘pinning their ears back’ and goin’ after the Argo O, deep in their own zone.

Peace.

Coach Salavantis, everybody's hero, agreed with Coach Taaffe's decision to try the field goal, as I did.

A lot more pain would have been inflicted on the present moral of the team had they tried and failed again to score a TD and come away with NO points.
