After six straight years of Winnipeg dominance, the West finally has new blood.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders and BC Lions will clash in a Western Final that doesn’t involve the Blue Bombers for the first time since 2017, a matchup that guarantees a fresh face in the Grey Cup.
I’ll be at the game but I’m not sure where to look to watch the “storylines”. Will they be on the field? On the sidelines somewhere? I’d really like to know.
Run along now Jeffy, maybe you can find a replay of a game that the third place Stamps actually won. Might want to try some yogurt on those sour grapes.
What I’m trying to figure out is how someone who writes for the CFL doesn’t have factual information.
Bombers have been the west division powerhouse for 5 years, not 6. Surely they don’t count the cancelled 2020 season? So if you go back 6 years to 2018 the bombers were 3rd at 10-8, beat my second place 12-6 riders in Regina (yes I’m still resentful!) on the pathetic “arm” of bridges because Collaros was, shocker, concussed, then lost to the west division powerhouse 13-5 Calgary who went on to win the GC.
They seem to suggest that being in the divisional final, played in Calgary, means the path to the grey cup ran through Winnipeg when it actually ran through Calgary and Ottawa. Making the division final means you’re in the top 4/9 th’s or 44% of the league. Not exactly a powerhouse definition. I mean the riders were on the west final last year and the cup are didn’t run through them nor were they a powerhouse.
Not taking away from what Winnipeg has done which is phenomenal - winning the west for 5 years straight did make them the powerhouse of the west and the path to the GC. For 5 years not 6.
@stampland I’m surprised you’re beaking off at rider fans considering the article credited Winnipeg over your ponies for 2018. Actually no, I’m not surprised.
You sound jealous towards Winnipeg success which Riders cannot come close to matching.. FYI this yer will be the first time since 2015 that either Stamps or Bombers will not win the west and the first time since 2011 that the Stamps and/or the Bombers havent participated in WF
If we are going to play “cherry pick the convenient stats”
Riders have won the west 2 times since 2019
Riders and Bombers have won the west 7 times since 2019
Calgary hadn’t won the west since 8 seasons ago, in a 5 team division.
rider have played in the west final 4 times since 2019
either riders or bombers have played in the west final every west final since 2019
When was the last time Calgary played in the west final? Right 8 seasons ago.
When was the last time Calgary beat the riders in a playoff game?
When was the last time Calgary won a playoff game?
Now set all my cherry picking aside and re read my post. I was crediting the stamps for being dominant in 2018. I was crediting the bombers for being dominant the last 5 years. I was discrediting the inaccurate cfl article. I admire Winnipeg’s success, they’ve done something real special. I’ve never discredited that and I’m not jealous of something my team hasn’t yet earned.
Go spin this this around in your melon and spit out some more nonsense. Learn to take credit were it’s given and give some in return when it’s earned.
And in this era of Rider “glory” How many cups have the played in, let alone win??? Because between 2014 to 2018 Stamps played in 4 and won 2. So if you want to compare eras if greatness we can..
Like most sports it’s what have you done lately. This decade doesn’t include the Stamps. Might change next year but we aren’t there yet.
As for the powerhouse Bombers in this decade? Their playoff road record isn’t a whole lot better than the Riders. 1-0 so far but that could be tied up next week. Yah they have lost four straight road games.
The Riders need to come out with guns blazing to get the fans into the game. We need to score first and keep the pedal to the metal. When we have a chance to sack Rourke we have to wrap him up and above all stay away from dumb penalties and turn overs
