3 stats that may loom large in the Western Final

WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Saskatchewan Roughriders are two squads built to battle in November.

Seldom discussed is the failed short yardage attempts. Riders have a lot of trouble on third and short which results in turnover on downs. Bombers seem to be much better converting in these situations. Are there stats for this? I would like to see them. I am sure the Riders are the worst in the league in this category. Muller is considered a great offensive coordinator. Until he fixes this problem he’s not. This could be a big difference maker in the west final.

“Harris did lead the Riders to an OK Tire Labour Day Weekend win over the Bombers, throwing for 368 yards and three majors, a performance that would go a long way in getting Saskatchewan into the 111th Grey Cup.”

Uhhh, no he didn’t. The Bombers won that game 35-33. Do you guys even proofread at all? I try to always stick up for the CFL but things like this are why people call this league a joke.

I noticed that error as well.

Riders come in as heavy underdogs. Nothing to loose. Arguably the hottest QB and field goal kicker in the CFL as we speak. Anybody’s game. Go Riders. Be mean’n green.

For the second year in a row, the Western Final in Winnipeg is sold out! And two years ago, about 30,300 tickets were sold. Hopefully the Bomber fans will be spoiled with yet another WF victory! Looking forward to the game!

Good to hear. The weather is supposed to cooperate with a predicted 10 degrees at game time, a far cry from the last Western Final against the Riders in bone chilling weather that was some 5,000 short of a sell out.

Big shout out to Winnipeg’s awesome fans. Another 48,000 fans day for the Peg as the Jets host Minnesota in the afternoon, a game that was moved up in time so as not to conflict with the Bombers. You would think the Jets would ask the league to not schedule them at home up against potential home playoff games and the Grey Cup, although if I remember correctly Canadian teams aren’t scheduled against the Grey Cup and no one is scheduled against the Super Bowl.

Yes, the last WF against Saskatchewan was during the shortened season which pushed the game to a cold December 5! Definitely had to wear my snow pants for that one. This Saturday should be balmy compared to 2021, but it never hurts to overdress this time of year as the temps drop quickly by 6 pm which is actually 7 pm due to the time change. The key is to be comfy and cozy throughout as we make life difficult for the Riders.

I didn’t know that about Canadian teams and the Grey Cup. But it’s good the Jets were able to change their game time. Big sports weekend in the Peg for sure!
