3 stats that defined Winnipeg's Week 16 win over Edmonton

EDMONTON — Through three quarters the Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ defence was doing just about enough to give their team the chance to defeat the Edmonton Elks on Saturday. In the fourth quarter, the Bombers’ offence decided to join the party and create some separation as the visitors would go on to take the game 27-14 and claim their sixth straight.

My favourite stat is only one of you six writers picked Winnipeg to win … bet against us at your own peril :blue_heart::yellow_heart::football:

That was a knee-slapper all right.

My second favorite stat is our jaw droppingly mediocre sub 200 yard passing performance that’s become the norm for us despite having the best receiving corps in the CFL… 'cause we keep on winning. Six in a row now and counting.

We don’t need no stinkin’ 300 yard passing games! :beaver:

can someone explain to me why the call on edmontons 48 on lawler was a penalty, unnecessary roughness. the guy was not not down and it looked like his hit on the shoulder not the head. or was this miscall.

It was discussed in the game thread where some said it was a hit to the head and others said it wasn’t. I am unclear whether it was or not but if so that is an automatic penalty.

If it wasn’t a hit to the head it was still a late hit to a vulnerable and defenceless receiver, which is also always a penalty.

Stats R for losers and bonehead that like to post trash talk.
Only stat that counts is the win loss, it don’t matter how you got there when win consistently.

Targeted the head, hit the head AND blindside hit on a defenseless player.
All the above happened and all are 15 yard flags

thanks for explanations, i only saw the highlights as don’t have a tv but looked like hit the shoulder to me, also how can it be late when he wasn’t even down. if he got away from the first tackler, then he would have been free to romp at will. As far as blind side how many times do we see someone tackled from behind, isn’t that a blindside?
thanks anyways for explanations

Talking about stats… How is it that the top three passers play for the worst three teams?

hit on a defenceless player… is self explanatory and again he targeted the head and hit the head, intentionally.
There seems to be an awful lot of players right now who think if they do not lead with the helmet but drive the full force of their body hitting first with the shoulder pad but still target the head that it will not somehow result in in flag being thrown
