3 stats that defined Calgary's Stampede Bowl win over Winnipeg

Not to be picky but that spectacular 85 yard Rouge Kickoff by Rene Peredes after the first Calgary touchdown was a stat that dropped a few jaws around here.

Winnipeg had 13 more first downs than the Stamps. Not very often a team gets throttled on the scoreboard with stats like that…two pick 6 will do that!

When the passes are for very short yardages it is easy to rack up 1st downs. The last quarter the Stamp’s defense allowed Collaros to throw those short yardages to prevent any long bombs that could make scoring easier. It used up the clock but didn’t hurt the Stamps. That is called smart playing.

In the last three minutes you can do a lot of damage with those quick hitters to the sidelines. Prior to that i’d have to agree with your take.

Yes some teams can turn a game around in the last 3 minutes. But the Bombers didn’t really do anything in those 3 minutes but pump up useless stats. The real stats that are important are on the official score board. The Stamps controlled the entire game to snatch the win and the Defense ensured the Bombers did no damage, allowing only FGs for 3 Qs of the game.
