I figured the first one out by myself cause I can read both sides of the pink grapefruit juice containers we used to have when I was a kid, took a little while to figure out that the "pamplemousse rose" meant pink grapefruit, but I got it.
A buddy of mine who I think knows at least a bit more french than me (he actually took it all throughout elementary and high school) told me the second phrase. He's kind of an odd duck, but hey, we were first year engineers at the time, we're pretty odd to begin with.
You got all the french spelling right and why of all things would you learn “I am a grapefruit” and “Im not a tree”?
But on topic Im getting really sick of Don Matthews driving good players away from this team unless we win the grey cup this year I think he should be canned then formal appologies given to Barron Miles, Marc Megna, Kevin Johnson and Almondo Curry
Barron Miles was one of the most loved Alouettes in Montreal. That guy was involved everywhere in the community. He and his wife spent almost all of their free time in hospitals, helping people.
Not only that but he also is the best safety in the league.
I still haven't accepted the way he was treated by the Alouettes. Just because Matthews didn't like Miles' personality. Like Matthews would know what a nice personality is anyways...
But good for Miles, he ended up with Buono who certainly treats him with due respect.
Ya know, it seems to me that Matthews makes changes more for the sake of making changes than anything else. Like starting two rookie DB's in the Cup a couple of years back, what was the point of that? It's almost like he's trying to prove that he can win with anyone or something.
And off topic, mada7, I knew grapefruit and knew how to say I am, so I thought it'd be funny to combine them. As I said in an earlier post, the second one was taught to me by a buddy who has an odder sense of humour than I do.
You know what? I think Matthews' gimmick is to try something that looks like nonsense and hope to win. This way, people can call him a genius for "doing something no one would have dare trying". That's if he succeeds of course.
I don't know what Matthews' gimmick is. But yeah, he really tries to make his mark on a team by making changes. When he came to the Riders, one of the first thing he did was cut 2 of the most popular (and IMO, 2 of the most productive) players - Willis Jacox and Richie Hall. I never understood that. But there sure was outrage in Riderville.
