Its probably not a smart thing to do at this point in the season...But I was wondering..because I can never remember the Ti-Cats employing a 3-4 defence in the past 20years.....What do you guys think? Would it help? I dont see us getting much pressure on the QB rushing just 4, so why not just drop another linebacker... And a further note, Im not blaming our defence for anything, they played with heart and some brains...we cant expect them to score too!

I don't have a problem with a 3-4 alignment except it can be run upon, all things being equal (assuming the opposing o-line has a clue LOL).
It depends whether you have the four linebackers to run it more than the linemen since the pass rush responsibilities put more of a premium on LBs who can rush the passer effectively on dogs and blitzes.
As part of a change up, having an extra 3-4 package apart from one's base 4-3 is a good thing.
I like the 4-3 system better because the tendency with 3-4s is that the linemen can break down with sufficient pounding. Gap control tends to be easier.
As well, the pass rush one gets from a 4-man line can be the difference maker re effectiveness. It is rare that a 3-man line can generate that kind of pressure itself. The nose tackle's prime responsibility is gap control, not collapsing the pocket, in most 3-4 systems.
With athletic-enough linemen, zone blitzing schemes can make a 4-3 work with 3-4 looks.
actually, what i would like to see is a rotating 5-2, to 4-3 defense to keep the oponent on their heals and do a couple tricks with that with hopes of getting more pressure on the QB, not that the boys did not do a good job last week!
While Bekasiak is being pre-emptively annointed as the next Mike Philbrick but meaner.... I don't think he's quite ready for full time CFL nose tackle job...
