:als_red: 2025 Match / Game #2: MTL @ OTT (13 Juin / June)

Right, especially after the PR goes back to 10 instead of 13 players. I don’t know which week that happens.

The Alouettes could always have less than 13 players on the practice roster, but they don’t have to go to 10 anytime; could decide so, but don’t have to.

In September, and for 4 weeks, the practice roster could go to 18 and back to 13 after these 4 weeks.

You can have 13 or 18, only if you have 3 Global players on practice roster; excluding Global players, it’s 10 and up to 15 in September which coincides with last NFL cuts.

Ah, yes, it’s global players that allow the larger PR of 13. And we have 3 globos there currently: Hutley, Sloan, and Nouilli.

Our Tuesday injury report is identical to Monday’s, except that Mason is obviously gone and Moose isn’t listed since he’s on the 6-game. Ottawa’s report is identical too. (Brown still Limited in practice.)

Joshua Archibald DL Hamstring DNP DNP
Antonio Moultrie DL Back Full Full
Stevie Scott RB Knee Full Full
Nick Callender OL Foot DNP DNP

James Morgan QB Back Full Full

We could very well be facing our old friend Matt Shiltz Friday,

And Dru Brown admits he should have taken himself out of the Sask. game when he injured his hip.

But he also didn’t want to take himself out of the game and put the responsibilities on the shoulders of a cold backup.

“In hindsight, maybe that would have been a smart decision,” Brown said.

Ottawa would be foolish to start Brown if he’s not at 100%. That’s a risk to their meal ticket. That said, whoever starts is going to get bodied by our defence.

If Shiltz starts, a good chunk of their offense will be former Als.

Not just offence. Between Shiltz, Stanback, Lewis, Pickett, and Wakefield, it’s the Ottawa Alouettes for sure.

Edit: If Scott has another day of full practice, do they activate him to back up STE this week, or keep Theis on the roster?

Unless Scott is going to start, I think Theis also providing KR backup/options keeps him in the lineup.

I agree with the substance of your post, but do want to point out that Ottawa’s O-line had a lot of trouble against Saskatchewan. If that’s how they’re going to play, whoever’s behind centre will have a miserable time against our defence.

Report that Brown is out for this week’s game.

Edit: confirmed that Brown is out.

Here are the LT possibilities for the Als:

Should be an easy win for the Als - 42 - 0 ?

Honestly a bit surprised that they’re going right to raw newcomers in Montilus and Holmes for Callender’s spot. Montilus has a bit of familiarity with our system, since he signed last September. Holmes is new to the team but spent time with Ottawa in 2023 and 2024. Both are 25 and around the same height and weight. Flip a coin!

Given that McGloster moving to LT and Shanks playing RT aftert he injury worked well, surprised they don’t stick with that … they must really like Montilus and/or Holmes.

I think they would start with either Montilus or Holmes at LT. If they are getting beaten early, then they might consider moving McGloster to LT and plugging in Shanks at RT.

Hopefully Montilus (who has been with the team since last Sept.) or Holmes can be pleasant surprises.

But our defence shut down the run early. It’s not like Toronto suddenly forgot how to run the ball.

I was actually going to point out after the game that our run D was better against the Argos than it’s ever been. Between Wynn and Uguak, we’ve got some excellent run-stoppers, and we gave Toronto nothing all night long.
