Ahem. Skenes now plays for the Yankees?
Who? This year’s NL Cy Young winner. Best ERA in the majors. He doesn’t have the wins only because he plays for the Pirates and has the lowest run support in the majors. I thought you would know that Squishy. Also Skubal on Detroit is the best AL pitcher and likely AL CY Youmg winner.
ERA is a far more important measure of a pitcher and factor in the CY Young than wins, which are hugely determined by the quality of the team you play for. Skenes is the only pitcher under 2.00 and best since Dwight Gooden in 1984. Hands down the two best pitchers in the game. See the article in this thread I posted a little while back. Skenes is simply the best at the moment and I haven’t seen many experts argue that.
Skubal pitching right now and the defending AL Cy Young winner. (now watch him get lit up)![]()
The broadcast was a Skubal fest until the first one left the yard…
Winning a Cy Young is an accomplishment.
…but the best to me, are guys who make it to championships.
And I think that is a team thing. No one pitcher can cause a team to make it to a championship. See Skenes.
And to me these days the teams that win championships are generally the richest. We will agree to disagree. We’ll see who wins the Cy Young awards.
Edit: Using your logic means that McDavid can’t be considered the best because he has yet to deliver a championship. Hockey is a team game as well, although less so than baseball.
Generally true.
Mets fans wouldn’t feel that way, but they are an outlier.
Dodgers would be the best team a money can buy, so I hope against hope they get knocked out.
As the sun sets here in Philadelphia now in the fourth inning, it should be an exceptionally quiet night for anybody working like me.
Quite the pitchers’ duel this evening
Well I think the Phillies were looking for a whole lot more in that 8th inning after that great triple and one run, especially also later after Dodger pitcher Sheehan balked right after a mound visit too!?

It must have not gone well?
Only one inning is left for any Philly magic tonight, and then it’s off to L.A.
Philly scored two in the 9th to make it 4-3, but unfortunately fell one run short. It appears that the series is all but over. So far only the Mariners/Tigers series has been competitive, although Cubs/Brewers have only played one game. Chicago up 3-0 tonight and still in the top of the first.
Edit: Now tied 3-3 after one inning. Both teams hit a 3 run homer in the first. Brewers are the only true small market team left in the playoffs.
Live feed for the game in Detroit tonight:
Blew a 6-1 lead
Terrible, horrible, disasterous defence
Jays have no starting pitcher named for tonight outside of some guy named “Bullpen game”
That being said
Yankees facing elimination again tonight!
FINISH THEM!
Crap happens, they let it slip away from them, we’ll see tonight.
Quadruple header in baseball today!

- Hot ticket in Seattle on Friday afternoon for the series!
- The Cubs are hanging on for their playoff lives. I don’t like either of these teams, but go Brewers!
- Go Jays and wrap this up tonight.
- It’s do or die for the Phillies on some tougher turf tonight at Dodger Stadium.
And, if and when the Jays are eliminated, the Brewers would be the team I’d cheer for going forward.
Jays at Yankees live feed, USA
I’m not sure if in Canada you are getting the same broadcast as are we in the US (via lowly FS1, but free via Fox’s website), and I don’t watch that much baseball, but how long have they been doing sideline interviews during play?
It’s a bullshit business practice that SUCKS in any league. ![]()
Do the interviews between innings, FOX!
It is BS but not as bad as TSN doing interviews in the booth during the Grey Cup while the game is going on. Can you imagine the NFL doing that ? It’s annoying enough when they do it during a regular season CFL game let alone the Championship. Who wants to listen to fanboy Glen Suiter fawn all over Keith Urban? Not me, i want to watch the game being called.
That was darned embarrassing
