I think you’re underestimating how much investment there is in football in the US. I moved to Texas a couple years ago and the very mid tier high school football team plays in a beautiful 12,000 seat stadium with all the bells and whistles. They have more coaches on their roster than a CFL team.
In comparison to Canadian kids, the growth and development of US football players is hyper accelerated from a very young age and the amount of coaching and clinics they’ve had by the time they hit any level of college ball is huge.
Sure, but USports guys start at pretty much every position on the field. It may take a year or two for some of them to get up to speed. Not a stretch to think one or two qbs could play in this league. Ford could be on the verge of that, maybe Elgersma or Senecal down the road. Americans will always be ahead of the curve, no one is disputing that.
NCAA level 2 or 3 is still higher level of football than Canadian University.
I don’t have the #'s but if you were to look at how many Canadian QB’s from Canadian Universities have been full time starters since Russ Jackson it’s 0. Ford is not a full time starter yet so he doesn’t count.
and look at how many Canadian QB’s from US Colleges have been full time starters? 1 Nathan Rourke.
Yes it is!! the competition and coaching is far superior to USports, there is just too much competition in the US. Almost every high school in the country has a football team, great players get overlooked and become outstanding at a Div 2 school.
How many high schools in Canada still have a football team??
times have changed since I went to school, not only are there far fewer kids in high school but they have a choice of other sports like soccer and parents these days don’t want their sons playing football and many schools have dropped football because of the equipment costs and insurance costs.
The result is that USports have very little to choose from, slim pickings.
The outstanding Canadian football players like Kurtis and Nathan Rourke, Chubba hubbard are scouted in high school and then sent to football schools like IMG in Tampa which is a stepping stone to the Div 1 NCAA and the NFL.
Not confirmed. This is based on this week’s rankings. There’s another weekend of games. Limited schedule, but conference championship games so lots of teams on this list in action. Those results will definitely impact what the schedule ends up looking like.
He’s going to get a shot in the NFL he’ll be a fourth or fifth round draft pick
So any team that drafts him in the CFL is going to have to wait till his NFL opportunities are exhausted.
Might be a good choice, Georgia State not doing very good this year with only three wins and Veilleux thrown 15 TD passes and 11 Ints, he probably won’t be an NFL drat pick. Could be suited for the CFL, he’s a scrambling rushing QB
