Since it’s US Thanksgiving I am posting the games as early as possible as there are only 3 days before the first games. Everyone has been forewarned about Thanksgiving, the one week that there isn’t a lot of time to make picks.
There were also only 5 worthy games for the slate so for the 6th game the stinker I picked was Arizona at Tampa Bay. One sided on the surface, but Baker Mayfield at least sprained his non throwing shoulder yesterday and missed the second half with his arm in a sling. Will be subject to an MRI. The possibility of him not playing makes this game a lot more of a toss up I figure.
I can also advise that @crash is travelling and therefore won’t be able to post the standings this week until Wednesday. Patience grasshopper.
Ripe for the picking:
Thursday, November 27
Green Bay at Detroit Noon
Kansas City at Dallas 3:30
Friday, November 28
Chicago at Philadelphia 2:00
Sunday, November 30
Houston at Indianapolis Noon Arizona at Tampa Bay Noon
Go figure, the good games of the slate are on Thursday and on Friday this weekend.
Not on the slate is Thursday night on NBC, when the Bengals will play the Ravens, with the possible return of Joe Burrow! I am thinking that game should be a good game!
Also not on the slate is LA Rams at Carolina on Sunday afternoon, which has the makings of a good game. I will have to watch that one on Pirate Sports Network.
In the mediocre AFC North, the Steelers (6-5) are in a similar situation as the Bucs as described below, as are the Ravens (6-5), who are back on top.
If you like repeated glowing mentions of “JOSH ALLEN!” or “AARON RODGERS” by the announcers like all damn season, that game late on Sunday will be for you.
I’m going to pass on that shit and just watch Raiders at Chargers, also on Pirate Sports Network.
Indeed Chiefs (6-5) at Dallas (5-5-1) is a de facto playoff game for each team.
The loser will have to try to almost win out their remaining five games, if not later getting a lot of help from various other teams who would be losing a whole lot.
One can stick a fork in the Cardinals (3-8), but as noted, the Bucs will be with their backup Teddy Bridgewater. At 6-5, the Bucs are at the top of the mediocre AFC South such that it is extremely likely that only the division champion will advance to the playoffs, so every game counts now for the Bucs and the Panthers (6-5), especially against weaker opponents.
I disagree that Baltimore and Cincy will be a good game. Burrow may return or may not- I tend to doubt it as Cincy is already done so why risk further injury? Baltimore should win handily.
And Rams at Carolina? That would be the best team in the world at the moment vs Carolina. I doubt anyone would pick Carolina. While the game may be of interest to some it’s a non starter for the pool.
Oh I understand why those games were not picked for the pool, and I did not mean to imply that they should be, but I disagree that with Burrow back, for which there is credible reporting that he could be back, and for the other game in Charlotte given the stakes for both teams, that they won’t be good games all the same.
I really don’t see Carolina in having any chance or that it will be a good game. LA is just too good by far and they are not full of dissension like the Eagles.
Be a Special Guest Star this week and make your picks!
Aye, some of us were NOT HAPPY and discussed that matter yesterday. Once the Cowboys got the ball back after the Eagles’ possession after they stopped them on 4th and goal, I knew it was bad news.
