Week 14 Playoff Games
Playoffs? Who said playoffs!?
With five weeks of games to go, well it’s that time of year when it’s so cold outside and it’s dark so much of the time that you would rather stay indoors a whole lot more anyway.
That holiday spirit is setting in, I don’t know about you but after Thanksgiving in the US or for most of you who are in Canada or are snowbirds in Florida, this time on weekends is about the best part for me until somehow everything gets screwed up in another two weeks before somehow things seem right again with the new year and that last wacky weekend of the regular NFL season.
This is also the good part of the winter until cabin fever hits as early as perhaps late January as we are waiting too long for the Super Bowl.
I’m putting this thread up early with a preview of playoff keys for certain games.
There are some games here in Week 14 that are effectively playoff games.
Now the loser is often not going to be mathematically eliminated , but the odds are daunting for the loser either to make the playoffs or to secure a higher seed.
Colts 6-7 at Broncos 8-5
This game is akin in importance of the Monday night game for the Broncos, but in this case it is all or nothing for the Colts to even have some sort of shot left to capture the last playoff slot, which right now is in the hands of the Broncos.
As the Chargers go to play the Chiefs on a very cold Sunday night, a win by the Broncos and a loss by the Chargers would put the Broncos ahead of the Chargers in seeding. That battle will continue for the rest of the season.
Houston 8-5 at Miami 5-7
With a win, I do believe the Texans would clinch the division already, as well as will have no less than the fourth seed in the playoffs.
Longshots and Holiday Stupid:
The Dolphins are in dire straits already , so basically they must run the table to win five in a row and have help to have any viable chance to be in the playoffs.
The path for the Bengals , already 4-8, is already over in the AFC lest perhaps one wishes your bet on celestial alignments to go with the Bengals winning five in a row.
Now of course one can do some foolish or stupid things during a holiday season no doubt, but don’t bet on any of these longshot propositions.
As it’s the holiday season and for good cheer, be sure to also tell a brother-in-law, uncle, and/or cousin not to make those bets to add more to any of their stupid too!
Seattle 7-5 at Arizona 6-6
This is a playoff game by any prudent measure.
With a win, Seattle secures the path to winning the division and then the Cardinals would be two games out of the picture.
With a win by the Cardinals, they stay in the hunt for an intense fight to win the division for the entire rest of the season.
I think both these teams like that they are playing this game indoors.
Green Bay 9-3 at Detroit 11-1
Both teams are en route to the playoffs barring spectacular failure, but to have any chance at all to win the division, the Packers must win this game.
We go now live to the Lions to see how they feel about that idea.
I think we can understand their feelings. Wrap it up now or tempt your fate, Lions.
NFC South:
Both the Falcons and the Bucs are 6-6. It’s win the division or stay home here with a lot of time left. Remember when both these teams were really good? Will either one of them recapture their earlier form?
Longshots:
The '49ers and the Cowboys are each 5-7. Every game is now a playoff game for either of these teams to even have some chance left, for those of you who believe of course.
Don’t bet on either of these two teams to make the playoffs either, and tell your brotastic betting sharp relative the same before they make these bets too.
Or just sell them something or convince them to somehow give you their money instead, for no doubt you would do something better with their money anyway and would be doing them a humanitarian and holiday favour too!
