Game number 2 of the 2024 season is a week from now, in Edmonton. With major injuries to WR Snead and LB Stubblefield there will at least 2 players’ change for this game.
While there have been no official announcements, Stubblefield did write-don’t recall where- that he will be out for the remainder of the 2024 season’ concerning Snead we did hear at least 4 weeks.
I expect WR Jose Barbon will replace WR Snead and DB Myles Brooks to be added for the loss of Stubblefield.
With 2 players removed from the practice roster, I will not be surprised if 2 players -WR and DB- released last Saturday are recalled.
Yes, Cosby will replace Stubbs, but he’s already on the roster; they will have to add an A player and I expect that it will be A DB Myles Brooks now on practice roster.
Unless the Als preferred Chiaokhiao-Bowman but he refused the practice roster offer … his time was recent enough that they could decide to bring him back.
Nothing to indicate that, though, so in the absence of evidence, I assume they will activate Barbon, who is on the PR and who had a strong camp.
Edmonton is going to throw a double-coverage blanket on Philpot and dare us to beat them in other ways. So it’s up to KJG, Spieker, Rambo, and presumably Barbon to be productive.
Edit: Football is such a weird business. We were all praising Cosby in camp and wondering where he’d fit in. Now, with one likely season-ending injury to Stubblefield, he has a golden opportunity to show what he can do. I hate this for Stubbs, but it’s great for Cosby.
OF course. I was replying to the post by Richard suggesting we will see Barbon and Brooks. My comment was meant to reveal the hope that Monday and Bowman would replace those two on the PR, not Snead and Stubbs directly.
The Elks sure did find a way to lose, which has become their trademark. But they did not look sad sack. I was quite impressed with their overall play and I think that game showed that the league is much closer to achieving parity.
Why would released players be added to the PR? We already have DB Myles Brooks, LB Latavious Brini, and WR Tyjon Lindsey on the PR, so there is still depth even with the injuries to Snead and Stubblefield, and it’s not like we are mandated to have a PR of a certain size.
If 2 players presently on the practice roster are added to the active roster following the injuries to Snead and Stubblefield, the Alouettes will definitely add 2 more players to the practice roster; agree that they don’t have to be at the max. of players on the practice roster, but they will nevertheless add 2 more players to the practice roster. If Wynn returns to the active roster, A DE Moultrie could always be 1 added to the practice roster.
We’ll see how things go this week, but I’m a bit nervous about Lyon at boundary corner. I thought he got beaten a number of times last game in all areas of the field, though it never cost us points. If he struggles against Edmonton, I would like to see Cre’Von LeBlanc get a shot. The dude was a beast on special teams against Winnipeg and I think he’d add some athleticism to our starting secondary.
