I believe, for better or worse, that they may be trying to save divisional games for the end of the season.
Unfortunately the CFL lets a computer decide what the schedule should look like after getting certain inputs. For example, if the average attendance is down in a certain week then the computer will make that week a 3 game week instead of 4. This led to the fan outrage in 2023 for 3 games on Canada day weekend.
The lowest attended game in 2023 was BC at Toronto so they put it as Torontoās home opener for 2024. However, they will completely ignore that attendance might be poor because the game was held on a day where most people had to work the next day.
Other related factors like ākickoff timeā are also ignored. Thereās quite a few complaints about 4 pm pacific time starts when some fans would rather have 1 pm local starts.
That computer sounds like a bojack too, and bojack using bojack logic, good luck with that.
Having a computer make up the schedule is not a bad thing. Every other league leaves it up to a computer. The CFL still has too much human involvement where we see the crap we currently have.
To add insult to injury, itās a Canadian company that does the schedules for the NFL, MLB, MLS and others.
Agreed, I was trying to portray that the inputs that the CFL put into the computer are a little suspect.
They donāt use a computerā¦they get a monkeyā¦get him good and drunk, give him darts and a calendar to throw them at.
How else could you explain the fact the Elks have three home games between now and September 7. Yup. 9 weeks, three home games. Including a 5 game stint with one home game in August.
Yeah. The Elks need better attendance so lets put all their home games in June and Octoberā¦
I donāt have access to stadium availability for the league but it sounds weird for sure. If anything you would think they would have more home games during July and August because of the world U20 in June.
Tin foil hat theory is that the league was trying to sabotage attendance to make it look like the situation is even more dire than it really is. If there was a bigger secret agenda to get rid of community ownership.
The real truth is probably that the Elks didnāt have anyone fighting for a better schedule last December because they were focused on other things. So the CFL gave them the shaft. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.
ā¦and the city with a hockey team most likely to make it to the Stanley Cup finals gets 3 home games in Juneā¦
The last thing the Elks needed is the Oilers in the final.
And the CFL is worried about the NFL?
Now they have two leagues to worry about.
Good job CFL
Itās a 9 team league. No excuse for getting this schedule so consistently wrong year after year, after year.
