Oxford Languages defines opinion as: ‘a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.’ Cambridge Dictionary defines it as: ‘a thought or belief about something or someone’. Merriam-Webster defines it as: ‘a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter’.
Well the Oxford definition supports your position while the Merriam supports mine.
A “view” and especially a “judgement or appraisal” clearly means that a thought process goes into providing an opinion. That is common sense to me. Otherwise it is a “belief” which is not based on facts.
