Let’s try this again … as I thought I made clear when I initially called it blackmail … if Calgarians don’t elect UCP candidates but the UCP forms the next government, they may withdraw support on the pretext that Calgarians didn’t support it (meaning, screw you if you don’t support our party).
OK. That makes sense though I don’t see that scenario unfolding.
If Calgarians don’t give allot of seats to the UCP, that party won’t form next government anyways. Definitely not a majority with Orange likey getting allot of support out of Edmonton area
Looks like Sutter is done in Calgary?
UPD…yes
Will Treliving come back now is the next question…
Not sure how much truth there is to this :
Edit : apparently there is truth
And the coaching carousel is about to take flight. Larsen, Sutter…
As Yev Kassem would say…Next. No Coaching For You!
But, here’s your money owed.
A report today that Snoop Dogg is also involved with a group preparing to make a bid for the Senators. Not a fan of his music but he’s a real cool dude and anyone that guest starred on a season of Trailer Park Boys has to be at least part Canadian. As the article says, he has some different ideas about how he would market the Senators.
Though certainly a few question his methods, I bet Patches O’Houlihan would be a great hockey coach.
As some here already well know , many of the skills in dodge ball can translate on ice including especially at goalie.
If you can stop a wrench or spanner hurled at you from various angles by professional baseball pitchers from mat mounds on the rink or from the stands, even simultaneously, you can most certainly can stop a single puck.
from the sportsnet article:
Throughout the press conference, Maloney reiterated that Sutter’s abrasive style, while often conducive to results, had begun to wear thin with his roster.
Combined with an apparent unwillingness to give much runway to Calgary’s promising youth, including former first-round pick Jakob Pelletier and AHL standouts Matthew Phillips and Dustin Wolf, it became evident that a change needed to be made.
“He’s a firm coach, he’s a hard coach. Demanding coach,” the longtime NHL executive said. “But there’s a shelf-life to that type of coaching, but obviously I felt that his time had expired with us.”
being an ass to your players doesn’t work anymore. pretty unreal that he won the Jack Adams just a year ago.
With the right players it works short-term, but not long-term and not with the revamped 22/23 roster …
What you said does not bode well for the Jets. I know Cheveldayoff already said Bowness is staying. It’s not that he was an ass, just blunt and emotional. Like an email, you can’t take it back. Always remember to count to 10 before speaking or writing.
He can’t get rid of all the players who, in Bowness’ eyes, underperformed. Will they be able to flip a switch to reset.
This offseason will be stressful in a lot of ways and I would think that, unlike the ending of his name, “Chevel” not have a dayoff.
To the English professor/mathematician, I meant to make dayoff one word. I wouldn’t do that the majority of the time.
Like former Jets coach Tom Watt once said, I don’t want to be coach of the year, just coach for a year.
How did he start that “Sit down and get ready this won’t take long”
It was calculated and purposeful.
this is pretty scathing
What is truly scathing IMO is that Sutter hasn’t changed but somehow the Flames were surprised how he behaved???
i have to agree
Bruce, There it is!
Time for the complete polar opposite for the Flames
Bruce Boudreau is looking for work
players and fans love Bruce, but he’s a bit behind the times as far as systems play goes. if he got some decent supporting staff to help him with that, i could see it.
Why is it so hard, when teams bring players up through their system to do the same with coaches?
I just find it weird that teams recruit and draft and develop players, but don’t do the same with coaches. I mean it cant be hard to have someone go through your organization top to bottom and put together a development program for coaching as well.
Maybe guys like Woodcroft will make teams think harder about picking and developing that next coach themselves rather than interviewing and recycling the same coaches over and over,
