We have been working behind the scenes to launch this year’s version of the CFL Pool. @Abendschan has run the pool in the past but is currently unavailable although he may join in later so I will fill in for now. @Capital_Dave will also assist as he has in the past and @GridironGirl is expected to make things much simpler and more detailed and accurate with her (should be) patented scoring program she created for the NFL pool.
Past participants should be familiar with the rules which aren’t changing although I am hoping that @Maaax will create more of his fabulous trophies for the winners. For those unfamiliar, all you have to do is pick the winners of every CFL game each week. There will be a separate thread started for each week’s picks and standings will be posted weekly in a separate thread as well. At the end of the regular season the top 8 participants will move on to the playoff round, which will be explained later. For now just remember to finish in the top 8.
Last year the top 8 in order were:
@aulcee
@Jon
@papazoola
@SaskWatch
@Cflukb69
@Hometown_Fan
@grannybomberfan
@60YearFan
After the first round of the playoffs the four who survived were CFlukb, Jon, Papazoola and Aulcee. After the divisional games the final two were CFlukb and Jon. CFlukb won it all.
So congrats again to regular season champ Aulcee and Grey Cup champ CFluckb. The title now resides in the UK so let’s do our best to bring it home. Also awarded last year was the prize for most perfect weeks (7) which went to both Aulcee and @Hometown_Fan. This year we will add an award for best aggregate which Papazoola had last year.
The top 8 will be determined first by the best record. If tied as we were last year, the first tiebreaker will be perfect weeks, which means that all of your picks won that week. You will see that number in brackets next to your record once you achieve a perfect week. The second tiebreaker will be aggregate which will be expressed as a + or - next to perfect weeks. The aggregate is simply a running total of your plus/minus for game scores. If a team you picked wins by 10 you get a +10 for that game and if you picked the losing side to win you would receive a -10 for that game. I am going in to this detail because numerous people asked questions about the scoring system last year and I want to be able to refer them to this post for an easy peasy explanation. I’m also adding a link below to last season’s final standings which may help in understanding the scoring system.

The pool is open to any member of the forum and participation is encouraged so tell all your friends should you have any. I will make another post inviting people specifically in addition to those invited in this post. Picks must be made before any game starts although it is customary to make all weekly picks before the first game starts. You can change any pick you make before that game starts but if you do so please reply to your original post showing all your picks as that makes it easier for us to track changes.
So feel free to make your picks for Week 1:
BC at Calgary Thursday at 8
Hamilton at Winnipeg Friday at 7:30
Ottawa at Montreal Saturday at 6
Saskatchewan at Edmonton Sunday at 6
(All times Central)
Good luck to all and may the best person finish second to me!
