The above quote is what I wrote in late September before the season started.
I think my prediction came to fruition but I had no idea that this goonery would actually be OFF the ice.
I think we won’t be seeing this thug in the NHL anymore. The league in the past has come down pretty hard on players that are found guilty of domestic assault.
They come up with this every year. It’s no different than power rankings, for discussion and amusement only. To me there are some obvious gaffes, such as Matty Beniers and Mason McTavish being way too low, but judge for yourself.
Well if it keeps up it will be interesting to see where McDavid goes when his contract is up in 2026. Maybe we’ll see a Gretzky like trade before then as the Oilers won’t want to lose him for nothing. Who woulda thunk it at the start of the year?
I was trying to figure when the best time to replace Holland would be since this season is undoubtedly a write-off. But I guess you’d want the new GM in place with enough time to set the team up for longer term improvements before the trade deadline. No sense waiting until the summer.
I find it weird that both Woodcroft and Holland would need to be axed after two highly successful seasons.
The Oilers were 50-23-9 last year. Good enough for 6th overall and 109 points. They also led the league in Goals with 325 and McDavid and Draisaitl were near unstoppable.
The goaltending and defensive side were suspect at times but the Oilers were able to outscore their mistakes. Actually towards the end of last season and playoffs Skinner looked pretty good in net.
There seems to be something wrong in that locker rom. Whether McDavid is injured or perhaps the locker room is divided about something. Maybe Kane is causing trouble again? Who knows? It’s just unfortunate that some of the front office has to pay the price.
Taylor Hall out for the year damaging the Black Hawks non existent playoff hopes but enhancing their draft pick next year. Another failed #1 overall pick by the Oilers, aside from one stellar season in New Jersey immediately after being traded from the Oilers.
